Blue & Gold
I don't know if this had been mentioned before, I stopped by the OBC a few days ago and asked my server about their pending relocation. She said that the OBC was going to relocate to the currently-under-renovation Kaiser Building across from Canal Park. Being a Tony Troppe redevelopment project it is guaranteed to be a gorgeous space. I'm pretty excited about the new location. The OBC's current location, IMHO, is just too massive for a micro-brewhouse. Even Kalamazoo's Bell's "ecentric cafe" was more along the lines of a Kaiser Building type of square footage. The beer will still be brewed downtown, but @ another, as yet to be decided upon, location.

As you mention, the new "pub" will be more appropriately sized with a "pub food" menu. The production location is also slated to be "very close" to the new pub, and it will allow them to increase prodution to meet outside demand. They would really like to get into bottling ASAP. The move is expected before October and will hopefully be accomplished with a minimum (roughly a week) down-time.I've also been told that they will be having a beer garden near the corner of Katherine Place and Exchange for Zip game days. Is that just pregame... because if it's there during the game, it might be worth moseying out the gates a few times
MaxZIP
Disclaimer: I am a creft beer/micro brew lover. The OBC brewers are extremely heavy handed with the hops. I have noticed them getting better with time but still need to improve. Keep up the good work brewmaster...you are headed in the right direction. If you know the brewer, tell him to brew a German Hefeweizen and a Belgian Abbey Ale.

johnnyzip84
If it happens, let me know, I will make a special trip down. I will make sure to keep you aware, but I wouldn't expect anything new before their planned move (by the end of October).

I am happy to hear about a local business (and a beer-centric one at that) getting involved with game days activities. Hopefully more local area businesses will come on board. What other businesses would you guys like to see being involved?I saw Hopping Frog Brewery for sure.
