Costly mistakes killed them but they at least moved the ball and played good d. They were also more supportive of their teammates. One thing that bothered me was the joking around on the sideline in the 4th. They looked to be d linemen and should have been slammed by team leaders for not ha ing their heads inthe game and not appearing to care about winning the damn game Quote

Fumbling on the goal line, interceptions, just stupid football. Quote

new yorker Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 Rootforroo44An injury is the only positive? Not only is that pathetic to wish misfortune on a 20 year old, what the heck does that say for the team you are supposedly supporting. How weak an observation.Good luck Matt in your recovery. You have many assets far beyond the football field. And no this is not Matt nor his parents. They have better sense than to ever look at this blog. Never have...never will. Quote
ctmjbowes@sbcglobal.net Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 Since this thread has turned into one about Rodgers, Matt is clearly a fine athlete and I understand he's a fine young man. I would LOVE to see him used as some sort of slice and dice wildcat run/throw option back next year. In my mind, with the state of medical technology, there should be no question whether he'll make it back to the playing field. Unfortunately for him the Nicely era has begun, in my opinion. However, man could be help this team as a change of pace guy, running, passing, maybe some work at WR. On the run in space the guy is electric. The Zips have GOT to put those legs to use next year.Matt, get better big fella. The Zips are going to need you out there when you get back.STZ Quote

I honestly find it to be a shame, it seems like with Nicely in there, maybe the coaching staff could've implemented a wrinkle or two with Rodgers for the rest of the year. I find it sad that you could ever consider an injury to someone on your team to be a positive. Heck, I even feel bad when K-ent players get hurt. I guess some folks are just stuck in Jr. High mode. RootforRoo44 Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 I dont see how what i said was me wishing injury upon rodgers or enjoying the fact that he was injured. OF COURSE it's never a "positive" for a kid to get hurt. What i stated was intended to be sarcasm in the fullest sense , i know people have been calling for Rodgers head for weeks (myself included) and i was only poking fun at that crowd (and myself). Though i will say in the end it saved the poor kid from embarrassing himself even more.Rodgers hopefully will come back and be playing something more suited for his talents (receiver, special teams, etc)I will however delete that post if that's truly what you guys want, but my God calm down. I've edited my previous response to remove the quote of your comment, and I hope that others also edit their responses to remove the quote. It's well known that sarcasm does not work well in internet forums. It's often mistaken for a serious comment unless the wording is crafted to make it absolutely clear that it's not intended to be taken seriously. Having said that, some subjects are especially difficult to make successful sarcasm about. A season-ending injury is one that definitely falls in that category, as should be obvious from the reaction of many ZN members. Quote
