KingZip
College signings: Alliance seniors select colleges Wednesday, August 10, 2005 By JOSH WEIR Repository sports writer ALLIANCE — Troy Pascley and Marcus Proctor now can relax and just play football. The two Alliance High School seniors verbally committed to colleges recently, with Pascley committing to the University of Louisville and Proctor to the University of Akron, according to Alliance coach Ron Kuceyeski. Pascley, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound receiver, who will play for the Aviators after transferring from Marlington, gave Louisville and Head Coach Bobby Petrino his word two weeks ago. “The main reason he chose Louisville was he’s a receiver and they average 50 points a game,†said Kuceyeski. There are plenty of balls to go around in Petrino’s offense. The Cardinals averaged almost 30 pass attempts a game while going 11-1 and winning Conference USA in 2004. Louisville moves to the Big East this season. Pascley also had offers from Michigan State, Cincinnati and Pitt, as well as MAC schools. He caught 23 passes for 406 yards and three touchdowns for the Dukes last year. Kuceyeski said Pascley runs a sub 4.4 40-yard dash and can bench press 300 pounds. “He committed early so there wouldn’t be pressure on him or us to showcase his talents this upcoming season,†said Kuceyeski, whose team will play in the Northeastern Buckeye Conference this season. Proctor, a defensive tackle who committed Friday to Coach J.D. Brookhart and the Zips, led Alliance in tackles for loss (19) last year while totaling seven sacks. Even more impressive than those number are his “freakish†physical abilities, said Kuceyeski. The 6-3, 285-pound Proctor benches more than 400 pounds and runs a 4.71 40. “Their coaching staff was impressed with him,†said Kuceyeski. “He thinks it’s a program on the rise.†Players can sign national letters of intent Feb. 1, 2006. The signing period runs through April 1. You can reach Repository writer Josh Weir at (330) 580-8426 or e-mail:

Captain Kangaroo
"Coach Jim Bollman of Ohio State wants to see tape of my first three games," said Proctor. "I'm committed to Akron but when Ohio State shows interest, I've got to listen." I'm committed to my wife...well...unless some hotter chick comes along. What aspect of the word "commitment" changed during the past 5 minutes? I must have missed something? Is this what Rivals.com calls a "soft-verbal?" Blech. RACER
i have to agree with c/k that either he wants to play here or not. if he is not sure? he should not have verbal comitted to us in the first place.i realize a verbal does not mean much, but it sounds like the kid is going to jump if he gets another offer.there are alott of kids who would jump at the chance to play at any d-1 school. the only problem i see is coaches do the same stuff. look at urban meyer.im coaching at bg uhh utah uhh fla uhhhh. go akron!!!!!!!! Buckzip
Some of these guys commit to be sure they don't get shut out. Then when the bigger schools come calling they will switch. I would think their are some players on UA that at one time commited to possibly a lesser D1 school, ot a D1-AA school, then when UA offered they jumped at it. Although I agree that you shouldn't make a commitment, and then back out, I also realize that these decisions affect their entire life. You can bet if OSU is looking, so are other bigger programs. If he has a standout senior year, he is probably gone. I hope he stays true to his commitment, he sounds like a stud, and UA lacks big DT's
RACER
i do agree these decisions effect their entire life. why though commit to somone in the first place? if i was akron coaches, and i read that thread i would not be happy about it. go akron. Buckzip
I agree. However, I feel the coached know this anyway, and don't count their chickens until NLOI day.
