zip81 Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 I was bummed out since I can't watch the game on ESPN360. So, I was dialing around and was pleasently surprised that the Zips game is on Channel 5! Yay! Quote
WinZip Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 I found the game on TV... it's on ESPN plus Quote
ZachTheZip Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 Have we ever had more TV games than we've had this year? Quote
ZachTheZip Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 How good would the defense be if we had even a mediocre offense? Quote
ZachTheZip Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 Why don't we just put all 11 guys in the box? Quote
ZachTheZip Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 WHAT A TOUCHDOWN!Nicely laterals it to Alex Allen, who launches an 80-yard TD pass to a wide-open Andre Jones! Quote
you am i Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 Perfect deep throw by Nicely for what looked like a 77 year TD ... dropped by Miller. Hit him right in the hands. Quote
RootforRoo44 Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 It's time to start blaming the players as well as the coaches. There was a lack of effort today by many players and it was easy to see. No concentration, no focus, lazy tackling and no effort to pursue. That kind of stuff wont cut it. Quote

That kind of stuff wont cut it.Our defense played well for 3 quarters. Nicely played just as well for the entire game. I put the majority of the blame on our WRs cheating us out of 2 BEAUTIFUL TD passes. Given NIU's heavy running attack, it was a matter of time before our D wore down and started giving up big plays. I saw a lot of good tackling today, but because they were stuck on the field so much and so often, they were dead by the 4th. Quote

It's not like we were playing Ohio State and their 3rd string was in (which was still better than our starters) late in the game and wearing us down. It's about time these guys start making those big plays on offense and stopping them on defense, the excuses are ridiculous. How about we try playing with a little fire?BTW you are right in the fact that Nicely looked very good most of the time and the receivers mostly looked terrible. Quote
Dave in Green Posted October 31, 2009 Author Report Posted October 31, 2009 Like so many others, I was under the illusion that the Zips problems were mainly the offensive and special teams, and that the defense was the strongest element of this team. But I realized today that the Zips defense always seems to crumble right after the offense or special teams make a play that begins to put the Zips in a good position. I'm no longer buying the excuse that the defense is good, but gets tired in the 4th quarter because the offense doesn't maintain possession for 20 or more minutes. The defense should have been fired up when the offense gave them the lead. The offense, special teams and defense are all in this mess together. Quote

Man oh man, what a terrible team. Quote

No concentration, no focus, lazy tackling and no effort to pursue. That kind of stuff wont cut it.That is true. But your not going to kick many players off of the team. You are going to remove the point man, which in this case is JD. Also, some of that lack of motivation & concentration can be directly related to the fact that the players see the writing on the wall for what is is worth, and have decided to just mail in the game. RACER Posted November 1, 2009 Report Posted November 1, 2009 the defense has been playing fine the last few games.i don't what you are talking about how the offense responded.we scored ten points.our only score was on half back pass,or we would have only had three points.how about the offense doing something to help the defense like scoring more than 10 points a game.how about the offense running the football to eat up some clock,or getting a first down once in ahwile.the defense gets off the feild and four plays later they are right back on it.i give the defense alott of cedit for playing as well as they have.as soon as the opponent scores ten points the game is oversince our offense can't score more than one td a game.to blame the defense on why we are losing is just insane.
