Valpo Zip Posted November 1, 2009 Report Posted November 1, 2009 The zips will play 3 games in 3 days between 19-21 November in Daytona Beach. Other than the Mac tournament, you never get to see the good guys play that frequently. Anybody planning to be there? I found non-stop flights from Detroit airport to Orlando (1 hour drive to daytonna) for around $200. Quote
bigsix0 Posted November 1, 2009 Report Posted November 1, 2009 I'll be there Friday and Sunday. The Saturday game conflicts with the OSU-Michigan game....sorry. Quote
Z.I.P. Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 I'll be there Friday and Sunday. The Saturday game conflicts with the OSU-Michigan game....sorry.Okay! What is this, some kind of joke?!? Quote
Johnny Utah Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 I'll be there for at least Friday and Saturday. Quote
ZZZips Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 I arrive on Thursday and depart after the Sunday game.Using Continental from CLE to MCO (Orlando) for $299.If you are planning to go, try and get into the Hilton. It's on the beach and directly across the street from the arena. This is also where the team is staying. Quote
BirdZip Posted November 6, 2009 Report Posted November 6, 2009 Birdzip will be there with the family. Going down Thursday and extending the stay until Thanksgiving. Quote
Valpo Zip Posted November 6, 2009 Author Report Posted November 6, 2009 My better half and myself are going to be in Daytonna Friday to saturday followed by a couple of days in Orlando. My question is this: shall we get tickets from the JAR or just walk in and ask for tickets behind the Akron bench? Quote

My question is this: shall we get tickets from the JAR or just walk in and ask for tickets behind the Akron bench? If you've ever seen these early-season, neutral site tourneys on TV, there's usually about 16 people in the stands. It's your call....but if it were me I'd see if I could get some cheapies outside the arena. There's no risk of a sell out. Quote
Zip Watcher Posted November 6, 2009 Report Posted November 6, 2009 Unfortunately, family events and the sesspool of financial crap that is 2009 have ended my hopes to get down to this event. I'm really bummed out, as traveling with the Zips is a great time .. and whenever you can see them play / progress / grow 3 games in 3 nights .. you really win.Anyone on the fence should really just go. You can see all 3 games with only having Friday off. Continental can get you down there in time for Friday's game and you can come back Sunday afternoon. It's probably a $500 weekend.Go Zips!! Quote
GJGood Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 I've heard many people say that Akron is in the Glenn Wilkes Tournament, but can anybody explain to me how exactly this is a tourney? The matchups are all predetermined.Personally, I'd like to see the Zips get into an early season eight team three guaranteed game tourney as often as possible instead of something like we have these first four games. I can't argue with who we may be playing though, that has got ot help the SOS and RPI. Quote
