ZachTheZip
The NCAA early signing period starts tomorrow, I think. Will any of Akron's verbal commitments choose to sign their LOI early?

A real advantage, IMHO.Go Zips!Someone take good notes tonight.

That takes a big load off of the coaching staff's shoulders, and that frees them up to focus more on the current team. Plus, they can start looking at the 2011 class which has huge potential. Quickzips
The bigger question for tomorow is where is the mysterious third scholarship coming from. We've got two scholarship graduates this year, Jimmy Conyers and Chris McKnight. We have three recruits who have given verbal commitments, Green, Egner and Euton. The math doesn't work out. I'm very interested to see what will happen here.
Valpo Zip
I hear you quick. My guess is that Dambrot will not be filing for a Darryl Robert 5th year. That's only a personnal guess though.
Zip Watcher
Pure speculation here is that perhaps Roberts is only guaranteed Parrish's scholi for this year. It doesn't impact whether or not he get's his 5th year .. that's an eligibility issue. But perhaps KD needs to fill the front court and the scholie for Daryl is on a one year basis.Go Zips!! doublezip
There's no way KD doesn't try to get another year for Roberts, he's one of the best players on this team! I also think he feels bad about Roberts paying his own way for the last two years. I think he's counting on a younger guy, who isn't getting any playing time, transferring. I think he's counting on a younger guy, who isn't getting any playing time, transferring. It may not be up to KD.If Roberts' grades don't meet the 5th year eligibility criteria, then there's nothing to submit to the NCAA. He needs to be on-track to graduate.Maybe Roberts grades are great...maybe not? I don't know. But it was Roberts' own fault that he had to pay his own way for two seasons. The scholarship was his, and he declined it.Players get injured, players quit, players transfer, players don't make grades, an incoming player can "Grayshirt"...a myriad of highly probable things can happen to open up the final scholarship. ZachTheZip
Any news on whether the signings have come in?And as for the 3rd scholarship, it's highly likely that Roberts' scholarship is for this year only. You can't promise him a scholly if there's any doubt at all that he might not be able to return next year. It's also possible that KD believes that there's no avoiding having at least one player transfer to a school that can offer more playing time. But that is a risky move, and not as likely. Dave in Green
The Zip's women's basketball 2010-11 signing class was officially announced at gozips.com a couple of hours ago, but nothing on the men as of 5:12 p.m.
zippyman23
Euton's LOI has been received. Haven't heard about Green or Egner, but I assume both have been faxed.

Dave in Green
And the official announcement popped up on gozips.com in the past hour or two.Official AnnouncementI really like this recruiting class. These three quality forwards will be playing up front with Zeke for 3 of his 4 years at UA. Along with the other forwards already in the program, I think this is a great addition to the Zips' already strong group of young guards. Of course there are no guarantees that every player signed will live up to their full potential. But I'm ready to sign up for season tickets for at least the next three years. Captain Kangaroo
On Euton:"Dakotah Euton is a 6-foot-8, 230-pound forward who made 40 percent of his 3-point attempts last season"Finally - Someone to fill David "The Antipasta Assassin" Falknor's very big shoes! Dave in Green
It's also a bonus when a big man like Euton shoots 83% from the free throw line.
