johnnyzip84
That'll be another nice showcase for the stadium. I'm sure glad it's at the Info instead of at Dix. I'll bet they attract the largest crowd since CJ#1's return.

Maybe if we move down to FCS we'd sell out every game?

johnnyzip84
Who's CJ1?The "QB formerly known as CJ7" for the Zips became CJ1 when he transferred to Morgan St. Unless it's ZN etiquette to forget any ex-Zip who has gone on to another school. In which case.....yeah, who's CJ1?
jaycevs
My high school played McKinley in 1997 during their USA today national championship year, and it was 70-0, at halftime (Mike Doss had 300 yards rushing on 10 carries), with players like Jamar Martin, Kenny Peterson, Mike Doss, etc. Having experience in the Canton area, there is nothing like Massillon-McKinley, they talk about it every day of the year. It will be a good thing to get players of their caliber (and parents) into our new stadium and then try to recruit some future players. BostonZip
ABJ says there was a "reported crowd of 13,121" at the game.Don't know if the reporter thought there more people there or fewer.

The place was rocking the entire game. It was a great game actually. Fun to see one of those in the Info. In fact while at the game I changed my status message:"Brian ****** finds it amusing that he's at the Canton McKinley vs. Massillon high school football game at the Info and the atmosphere here is better than at our college games lol"Here's a pic of the Massillon side from my phone

If I had to guess I would say more like 18-20k. The place was 65-70% full. If that was 13k then the Info only holds 20k tops.
GJGood
Glenville-Massillon this week at the stadium...I guess it can't hurt from a recruting standpoint.Don't expect quite the crowd as last week's playoff game though.
BostonZip
Thanks for the comments and especially for the pic. Looks like a lot more than 13k in the stands. The OHSAA has a history of announcing smaller crowd numbers than what actually appears on hand.

When I looked up at the McKinley side it looked completely packed. You can see the Massillon side has some empty spots in the corners but I still think the stadium was about 80% full. The biggest benefit would be non-athlete students seeing campus for the first time, and adults seeing the changes that might change their perception of Akron as a smaller version of Cleveland State. Plus, it can't hurt to have the stadium on TV again this week, this time with a team from Cleveland on the field. I believe in the old saying "out of sight, out of mind" so at least the Zips name and logo will be being displayed again to a viewing audience.
