MaxZIP
Are they trying to hide this game or did they just want the season to be over a couple of hours early.
ZachTheZip
Are they trying to hide this game or did they just want the season to be over a couple of hours early.Because it's a holiday weekend and most people are off of work. Also, we need the stadium free on Saturday for the more important football game between Glenville and Massillon. RowdyZip
The rationalization (from the MAC) is that because the MAC championship is the following Friday (which is stupid in it's own right), every team has to play the Friday after Thanksgiving. Another idiotic decision from our conference.
WinZip
There are more people who want to go to the soccer game on Sunday than this football game...it's going to be a very very sad sight...one that I wont be there to see
ZachTheZip
Too many people out shopping on Black Friday. Maybe if the team shop was open and had some deals going on we could attract a crowd.
Zipsrifle
All valid points. I'll be there, cheering for a win. I'm really sick of the MAC office screwing the fans with this National TV crap!
GJGood
Part of the reason for the afternoon time is because the basketball team is playing Friday night. The game time wasn't set until mid-season and it was probably decided to go with the football game in the afternoon once it became apparent where this season was headed. Had the team been in contention for the division you'd have to think they'd be playing at night and the basketball game would be an afternoon affair.I know the crowd will be small but I hope its not emabarrasingly so at the stadium Friday. All you guys that have their significant others going out to shop for Black friday should grab your buddies and go see a football game. Also, a good time to try to talk anyone you know who hasn't seen the stadium yet into going.

fear the brown roo
boy that was impressive. 2 bad teams playing in front of lots of bleachers and empty seats. what a great idea. maybe next year we'll get a couple of tuesday night games which really rock and showcase MAC programs. scottditzen
I didn't see one student in the entire stadium!!!!On a side note, the band sounded terrific during the whole game. THREE WINS BABY

THREE WINS BABYyou didn't look hard enough.I don't sit with the student section even though I am an Akron student. I sit in GA with my parents who are season ticket holders. If you looked in the student section next to the band I think there were about 10 rowdies and I am being very generous. Pretty pathetic and IMO seeing that made me glad I don't associate with the rowdies.
Jake
Are they trying to hide this game or did they just want the season to be over a couple of hours early.Because ESPNU said that will be the time of the game. Television rules. End of discussion. It's a non-issue. I suggest we concern ourselves with things inside of our control instead of mental and emotional masturbation. THREE WINS BABYHow in the Hell can one distinguish between a UA student and a non UA student on the campus of a major public university with a student population of nearly 28,000? Jake
don't they realize there will be no students there haha everyone is going home this is the dumbest thing i've ever heard ofAnd where do you think home is for most UA students, duhhhhhh?....Akron, Ohio of course. The campus houses only 4,000 students at best and for most of them home is between 5 and 25 miles away. Like it or not, UA is by no means a residential campus. "Going home for the holidays" is not a phrase appropriate for those attending Akron U.

These last couple games down the stretch here we were just trying to give people something to watch and keep ourselves entertained by cheering on the team, especially at the Temple game... This was my third, and by far best year so far. Regardless of what's happening on the field, things are really looking up for the band in the coming years. scottditzen
Our group has GA seats but we always sit in the student section for the atmosphere ie more yelling, standing during the game, etc. I didn't see one student in the entire stadium!!!!On a side note, the band sounded terrific during the whole game. bandzip
Attendance was much better than I expected. Pregame was ten minutes early or so for senior day adn when we started run on there were maybe 100 people in the stands. One thing really stood out to me all day. If you find a picture of the game you'll notice that there were more red Ohio State coats in the stadium then Akron or Eastern Mich colors combined. Yeah, you gotta love that about small-time, front-running, apathetic Akron residents, and I can get away with saying that because I live in the city!
