Its still hard to see a man lose his job either way, knowing the hours and dedication that go into trying to coach on this level. If they do bring him back (unlikely), I hope we win games, if not then I wish him, the players, and the staff the best. I know I'll still be here Friday at 2 o clock to try to support these guys and the University.

It's harder to watch the team lose. I'm sure JD will land on his feet.Don't feel sorry for JD, feel sorry for the dedicated Zip fans that go to all the games and just want to see the team win.

I highly respect JD Brookhart as a man. As a coach, not so much. JD needs to fix a few glaring problems in his program. First, the 3-3-5 absolutely must go. This defensecoughs up touchdowns like a kat coughs up hairballs.Second, no more junk plays like the goofus inspired formation on our goal line that gave Ohio U a freetouchdown. Ugly.Next, discipline. There is simply no excuse for false starts, improper alignments, twelve men on thefield, cheap shot personal fouls, etc. Not to mention the frequency of screw ups caused by MEs. (mental errors)Shane Montgomery needs to go. Walt Harris as offensive coordinator would be a huge improvement.Worst offense in my eyes ... the poor decisions regarding Chris Jacquemain. The kid should have beensent packing the first time he was caught. JD jeopardized the entire athletic program with his Mother Teresa handling of CJ. Zero tolerance with drugs and felonies. No second chance, ever. Prediction: And, I pray that I am wrong ... JD stays for his last year and produces a 4-8 season.

I'm starting to get that vibe but I don't understand why. Most people will remember that I stuck up for keeping JD the last two seasons.I kept saying that you have to give a coach at least 4 or 5 years to demonstrate his vision as a progression without the stain or shadow of predecessors. I believe that time has past. All I can hope for is that if he is kept for another year, he makes Wistrcill and Proenza look like geniuses and seers.Whoever is strategizing the offense next year, I hope they aren't plagued with 2 dimensional vision. You don't just spread the field and vary the options, you stretch the field too and you make defenses try to cover what they can't, hesitate, and panic.

I feel bad for Steve French. How much bad football has that guy had to sit through this season?
Steve is a nice guy, but remember, he gets PAID to do it. The fans pay to watch. Feel sorry for the FANS.

I thought it might be interesting to revisit what people had to say regarding whether JD should have been retained after LAST season.
I like going back and reading what people say or predict. I hope we aren't doing the same thing next year, because going backand reading what I wrote LAST year, is just how I feel this year. I won't go through another season watching this, it's too predictable.I just want to win.

I didn't stick up for him last year because I thought he deserved more time. I stuck up for him because I thought some things happened at certain junctures during the season that made me believe that we were heading in an "improving" direction. That's obviously not the case anymore, and I'll be surprised if he stays.

Proenza has to be mortified by the empty seats in the INFO on gamedays. Where is this vibe that JD is going to stay? I don't see it happening. Also if you read the article closely, Big Tom refers to the win/loss record in evaluating his coaches, and I know for a fact we have a lot more losses than wins under JD. I respect the things JD has done here like bring us our first football MAC title and beating Can't on a consistent basis, but now it's time to up the ante. I would have pulled the plug last year.

29-42. Not even an average of five wins per year. Man, those first two years we thought we were off to something special.

Its not just his career wins/losses as the head coach, but the direction of the program. And as a direct result of all of the losing, the empty seats in the brand new Info will be the final nail. It really is pathetic to see a mostly empty stadium on game days. Not exactly what LP had in mind. After his first two seasons, I was a JD believer - big time. But after what has happened since, especially this year, I can't see him staying. To an extent, he is a victim of circumstances with some key injuries, but as the head coach excuses go only so far. He always struck me as a stand up guy and he knows that he's had a fair shot. I saw an article today about Shanahan possibly going to the Bills and it made me wonder if he got the job whether JD could end up on his NFL staff.

I watched part of French's show last night. He made it sound like it was 50/50 if JD stays or not.French said no decision has been made, JD is a solid guy one of French's favorites, the freshman class is really good, don't be surprised one way or the other what happens.

Holy Cow! I hope if our new AD is irresponsible enough to keep JD, that you raise Hell with him. A new coach will likely take 2-3 years to become competitive, but at least there will be some hope -- and some butts in the Info's seats. I'm pretty confident that Tommy Dub knows a change has got to be made. And an increased commitment must be shown in who the next coach is. No local yocals (Heacock), no washed up former BCS coaches (Mason). Get someone with a real future. Someone who other programs will want to grab away from Akron.
