RACER Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 steve mc neese is keeping ohio in the game.40 foot jumpers that hit nothing but air.throws the ball to the other team.10 second violation.steward played good when he was in.kd would rather play mc neese/mc clanahan combo, and shoot us right out of the game. I wish the zips radio stream still worked...You know, I thought he was very even-handed to start. As the game got closer and time ticked down, he's become more of a homer. What a great game. Same as going at the JAR...lady Zips up by 3 with 4 min to go. Quote

Quickzips Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 Zips hold on despite 2 C.McKnight missed FT's. Good win for the Zips. Gonna be tough for the Bobcats to come back from 2 home losses to open the MAC season. Quote
RowdyZip Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 SWEET JESUS. DO WE WANT TO WIN?!?!Well, 67-62 final. We tried to blow it but start off the conference season 2-0 now. We'll need to play much better in Canada to come away with the win. Quote
bigzipguy Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 Well, we win. Anybody watching this game on the webcast, really think we deserved it???? Thank goodness for D. Roberts with those 2 big threes and Jimmy C. That second half was WORSE THAN URI!!!! Quote
RACER Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 i usually don't get on kd,but some of his personell moves don't make sense.steward looked good for the pt he played.he can handle the ball, and does not turn it over.he even had a nice move to score on one play.i realize roberts was hurt. why was steve, brett mc lanahan getting so much pt. when they don't deserve it.steve made a few three's early, and took the rest of the game off.he goes down the floor and shoots a 40 footer.next series throws the ball away.the last play of the second half has a turn over the gives ohio two points.missed a technical foul shot, and front end of a one on one.bassett shoots a three right over him when everybody knew they needed a three.had a ten second call on him.brett mc clanahan can't hit a broad side of a barn.niether of the guys are defensive stars by any means.i am not blaming any of these guys for bad play. i just don't know why kd won't let steward play more when the other guys are playing bad. And, Stevecan still guard people and make things happen on defense. The final objective is to get Ronnie Steward settled into the starting point guard role. Ronnie is still catching up. Quote
Quickzips Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 I still don't really get what others are seeing in Steward right now. Is it just that he gets the ball over the timeline a little quicker? I honestly am not seeing our offense running more efficiently with Ronnie in right now. The numbers seem to bear that out as well. Sure Steve turned it over 3 times tonight, and some of them were pretty bad, but he also had 3 assists and he can shoot from range. Ronnie doesn't have anything that I would consider a jump shot and didn't have a single assist tonight. Actually, he hasn't had an assist since the Valpo game. If the plan truly is to have Ronnie take over the starting PG spot at some point here, just call me concerned. Not saying I'm completely fine with Steve running the point so much. As I've said before, he's a combo guard. Capable of running the point at times and in certain situations. Tonight was not a good situation for Steve running the point. I'm actually starting to wonder if maybe getting Humpty some more minutes at the point would be a good idea. He seems to be a lot more controlled handling the ball this year. Quote
Quickzips Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 Ohh btw, Conyers=BEAST! I'm not afraid to say it, I love me some Jimmy Conyers. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 Conyers had another incredible game. Pretty soon the MAC teams won't be overlooking him. Right now, they're used to him being a scrub who gets a few minutes a night and maybe scores 5 points and gets a rebound. No longer. Quote

He's been our top player now for the better part of a month and a half. It isn't like this is just a flush in the plan anymore. This guy shouldn't be sneaking up on teams. I think right now he is just that good and playing with that much confidence. The thing that strikes me is that he is now he isn't just getting his points off of easy drives and putbacks. His jump shot has actually started to settle down too. It is amazing what a little confidence and a longer leash can do for a player. Quote

Maybe Conyers should have been getting more of an opportunity the last few years. After watching us squander leads and play terrible late in games this season, it makes me wonder if Dambrot really does have what it takes to put this program on the map. Quote
OZoner Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 Good effort from Akron tonight, especially in crunch time. I know someone pointed out the missed FTs, but the ensuing offensive rebound was a huge play. They made almost every play down the stretch. Quote
BirdZip Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 My goodness! Steve McNees stinks, Dambrot doesn't have what it takes, crapping down their leg, etc., etc. I can only imagine what this would look like if Akron had lost. Quote
