AK-Zips Posted October 8, 2005 Author Report Posted October 8, 2005 FINAL SCORE: Akron Wins! 3-0 Quote
Zipsrifle Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 11-0! That's AWESOME! Can anyone give me an idea of what constitutes a blowout in soccer? My guess is that 3-0 isn't a blowout, but probably beyond a solid win AND against the #20 team in the country. How common are undefeated seasons in college soccer? How common is it to have 0 ties? Keep up the good work Soccer team! Go Zips! Quote
a-zip Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 Is it a blow out? Its hard to describe, maybe hockey is the best to compare. Hockey terms 5-0 In football terms i would say it equates to 31-3 In basketball terms 75-55 Against the 20th ranked team.................damn they sound good! Quote
Z.I.P. Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 Can anyone give me an idea of what constitutes a blowout in soccer? Well, it's not the score. You probably don't remember a few short years ago when UA outshot WMU in the MAC tourney about 22-2 and lost 1-0. And about the only team that's ever gone undefeated in an NCAA soccer season is the UNC women (multiple). I'm not sure if its ever occurred in the men's game, though I vaguely remember one of Yeagley's teams in the 80s may have done it at Indiana. And, as far as the record goes, believe me, being #2 in the nation is the most enviable position there is. #1 has a target on their back that everyone can take aim at. Our toughest game may be this week when the lads head to NYC to play St John's, which GoZips says is now #3! 2 vs 3. What a great matchup. Having seen St Johns on FSC, I think if we score twice, we win. Frankly, a draw wouldn't be bad at all. We finish the regular season @IU, where I'm not sure if we've ever won. I would rather see an L somewhere on the schedule, than go into the post-season with none. I don't get the feeling this team feels like they're "destined for greatness", or anything like that. It's hard not to be humble, when you're from Akron. Sorry I missed the audio. If anyone finds out about free audio before any UA game/match, please send the word out to The Nation. zipper Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 I think we'll be number one now. New Mexico was ranked first but they had a tie game over the weekend. We have a tough schedule still for the rest of the season. Coach Lolla sure doesn't shy away from a challenge. Quote
