Quickzips
Bassett and Cooper are giving Georgetown nightmares right now in the first half. OU is up 41-28 w/ 3:47 left. Bassett is 6-9 with 3 triples for 15 points. Cooper is 2-5 with a couple 3's of his own and 6 points.

They had better exploit that if they plan to win. Here's to hoping they don't! This looks great for the MAC. Akron even got a little plug at the end of the half. akronzips71
Go Ohio! I'm loving this right now! If they beat Georgetown #3 seed it will generate some respect for the MAC. AND Makes our loss hurt just a little less....

RootforRoo44
I'm hoping Georgetown goes on a run! let's go Hoyas please!!!! Come on now VMD...lets say we "lost to a team that is hitting on all cylinders and even beat up Georgetown". Sounds alot better than "they didnt deserve to be there". ZachTheZip
Remember how we were up on Gonzaga lat year? It's because we had an extremely young team who didn't realize that they were hopelessly outmatched. The same thing is happening to OU. They don't know that they're supposed to be losing. If they start to realize it, they'll go cold and they game will be lost. If they win, that's great. If not, it doesn't matter to us or the MAC because it's just status quo as a one-and-done league. Don't look too much into this game. It would be nice if they won a game or two, but it doesn't mean anything in the long run, just like their past trip to the Elite Eight turned out to not mean anything. bUAkronG
if Ohio wins it's gonna ruin both of my brackets... and I am/was 8 for 8 so far on Yahoo. It just hurts to see them doing well. I don't like the bobkittens. Anyone else in the MAC(other than Can't) I would support.

akronzips71
I am not looking forward to seeing Bassett and Cooper together for another year. They are playing absolutely wonderful bball. It really makes you wonder what all those big schools were thinking when Cooper was available to be recruited. These two guys could play for anyone, and Washington is an assassin on transition. I also like the way the refs are calling the game. Letting them play, but calling the travels, something the MAC refs only seem to see when Nik has the ball. UAZip0510
Seriously now...what good does an Ohio win do for Akron? Here's the effect of an Ohio win: - OHIO U earns respect nationally - OHIO U gets a recruiting edge - OHIO U gets recognition How does it help AKRON? Here's the effect of an Ohio win: - OHIO U earns respect nationally - OHIO U gets a recruiting edge - OHIO U gets recognition How does it help AKRON? They don't get any of those things beyond a 6-month period. They didn't become a powerhouse after making it to the Elite Eight and they won't become one for winning in the first round of the NCAA. I don't think this does anything for Akron. It doesn't hurt them and it doesn't help them. At best we could say that we were a foul call away from being in their spot. Believe it or not, some of us have hopes of being more than a one-bid conference. What does it say if Ohio wins a game or two and K-ent goes deep in the NIT? These are all small steps toward recognition for the conference. Now we just need to develop an answer from Basset and Cooper. Humpty? D-Rob? Helloooo? Anyone home? OU goes to the Sweet 16 and K-ENT goes to the semis and there IS an impact, and just maybe not always a one bid conference. To get at large bids you have to prove yours teams can win in the dance.
