ZachTheZip Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 Tomorrow Akron plays a double-header against Michigan and Oakland. This is a good format for such a deep team. We could play different starters in each game. A Gold team and a Blue team. I hear that Oakland's soccer team is going through major turmoil right now, with possibly four players having been just kicked off the team. Quote

Roogangs Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 Just found out that almost our entire starting back line will not be at the games this weekend. Barson, Valentine, Sarkodie all are with the U20 US National Team for the Dallas Cup. Quote

Two players wanted to transfer to Western Michigan. Oakland coach gave the first his release, then refused to do so for the second. The kid's reason for transferring was that Oakland didn't offer his preferred major, chem engineering. Then the coach made it out that the player contacted WMU before applying for the "official" transfer (signing the NCAA's required form). Sound familiar to any Akron BB fans? Young coach. Replaced their long-time favorite last fall. Quote

The best players get to compete against higher competition while our reserves get valuable playing time against good collegiate teams. Quote
bmaker Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 Zips beat Michigan 1-0. Anybody have the low down on the game? Who played? Who scored? Quote
plowerman78 Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 nagbe scored in the michigan game, not sure about the oakland game but i know the zips won that 2-0 Quote
Zip_ME87 Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 nagbe scored in the michigan game, not sure about the oakland game but i know the zips won that 2-0 Balogun and Mwila each scored against Oakland. I'm forgetting who assisted on each (sorry guys). Ampai went down early against Michigan, Speas went down in the 2nd half of the same game. Ampai looked to be walking pretty well by the end of the evening. Ben didn't look as good. I hope both are well or get well quickly. BTW, Korb didn't play either due to recent surgery (???). Impressive to not give up a goal without any of our starting defenders. EDIT: Got back late; summary on gozips.com Quote
mes102 Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 Balogun had the assist of Mwila and Nanchoff had the assist for Balogun.. Quote
