Got the following info in my box recently from my friends on the California Riviera. College Cup tix are on sale to UCSB season ticket holders (my guess -- maybe 1000-2000 sold, as they lead the nation in attendance) beginning this week. Non-season ticket holder sales begin Sep. 1. See ticket prices below. Most seats are general admission, with VIP seating available. Not sure how many of the Gold Section seats there are, but I doubt many will be available by 9/1. In any case, we Zips will want to be together to multiply our power. Knock on wood! :D

Tickets for the College Cup went on sale last week. However, there is no need to buy now -- even if you are, like me, going regardless of which four teams play. I'm betting my favorite team WILL be playing, but I found this out -- the best seats, behind the team benches (no more than 2-3000 seats, I think) are reserved for UCSB season ticket holders and the four teams' ticket distribution. Therefore, I can't even get these tix yet, if I wanted. It guarantees that those buying tix through the school will have a perfect viewpoint. I was wondering, where were the teams' tickets located at Cary last December? Not as good as this year, I don't think. Rowdies, better start saving your $$$. :D

I called UCSB and talked to Priscilla (after responding to umpteen prompts).

Purchased a College Cup ticket for $40. That's what she recommended to do. Their stadium seats

SIXTEEN thousand peeps.

UCSB considers men's soccer their football program.

I am NOT the first Zip to buy a ticket to the College Cup according to the lovely, young Priscilla.

All of our tickets were GA in Cary. We were able to sit behind the Zips' bench...no problem. I think there were some high priced seats across from the benches, but I much preferred being behind our bench. GO ZIPS!

I already bought mine with the plan to sell them on StubHub if the Zips don't make it, but with the size of that stadium, I may not be able to do so. I also looked at the stadium layout, doesn't look like there are too many seats behind the team benches.

Thanks MD, I was just about to post that seat chart from UCSB. Total capacity of Harder is 17,000 (it was the stadium for their football team which played D-1 until 1972 I think, then came back as a non-scholarship program -- I think they were in the same conference with Dayton) briefly in the late 80s-early 90s, before killing it off for good). I suspect the blue and gold areas only seat about 2500 max, and they have over 1000 season ticket holders (I'll ask their ticket Mgr, I e-mailed her yesterday). Probably most season tix holders won't attend the Cup, unless the Gauchos are playing. BUT -- IF UCSB makes it, the place could be packed to the gills. They draw up to and occasionally over 10k for regular season games. However, they lost their opener last weekend to Cal St Bakersfield -- so I wouldn't count on them getting the home field.

I'm planning to arrive in SB on Tue. the 7th and do the Sideways Soccer Tour. No foam on my pinot, please.

Just booked my flight too (Southwest has some nice deals going on right now), I think the Zips chances are good, but if not I'm coming out a day early and leaving a couple days late to give myself a nice vacation anyway even if they don't make it.
