ZachTheZip Posted June 13, 2010 Report Posted June 13, 2010 Akron junior Michael Nanchoff will provide commentary throughout the World Cup Very cool that he is able to report for the Plain Dealer. If there's anyone in NE Ohio who is qualified to talk about soccer, it's Michael. Quote

ZachTheZip Posted June 13, 2010 Author Report Posted June 13, 2010 Wow. How in the world did that happen??? Quote
Dr Z Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 Speaking of World Cup. I watched the highlights of the US game on Youtube (see below), looked like a good game. If somebody can do this for the Zips games this year, I would appreciate it. Thank you. Quote
MDZip Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 The MAC really does get no respect. This is from a Peter King article (of course he is an OU grad) about the lack of international expereince from referee and the phantom foul disallowed goal vs. Slovenia. Why? Why is this just blindly accepted? FIFA uses a referee -- in a game of vital importance in determining who moves on in the biggest tournament in any sport in the world -- whose highest previous assignment was the African Cup. That's got to be the equivalent of a Mid-American Conference ref being assigned the Super Bowl. Read more: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/socc...l#ixzz0rbuWBwfK Quote
Dr Z Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 That's got to be the equivalent of a Mid-American Conference ref being assigned the Super Bowl.If the analogy is that the World Cup ref wasn't very good at his job, this might be PK's best analogy ever. I watched a MAC ref give the Bulls about 40 yards of field position twice in one football game against the Zips last year over nothing. That was a game changer. I don't look at that analogy as disrespect, I think PK might actually know MAC refs. In a way, that is respect, because he knows. The MAC disrespects itself. PS The Zips still could have won that game against the Bulls and blew it. I hope this years offense is able to convert those chances. Quote
Z.I.P. Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 HEY! I've found yet another reason to love the World Cup. Glenn Beck Hates It! (predictably) Quote
