A fan survey to help athletics staffs understand college football fan behaviors. Looks like it was taken in 2007/8. Think any UofA official/admin/marketing person ever read these?

Here: Examining Your Strongest Fans and Core Supporters

Here: Division I Bowl Subdivision Fans' Team Rankings by Conference

Here: Moving the 'Swing' Audience

Here: Segmentation Presentation Lots more data for you numbers geeks.

This is what we as fan in our area follow and why: East North Central Region Fan Profile

There were 3,289 total fan interviews conducted among adults with 396 interviews done in our region.

GO FIGURE: Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Michigan are among the top teams followed in every geographic region

Notre Dame is among the top teams followed in every geographic region with the exception of East South Central. In the Mountain region they are the top school followed even though the college is located in the East North Central (Notre Dame is 3rd most followed team).

One really has to wonder how significant this is to MAC teams. I mean, how many casual fans could even point out Ball State on a map? This might have been decided by one or two alumni from a certain school who live in a specific region.

Honestly, I don't see this changing until the football team begins winning. I'm patient because I'm a younger fan than some of you. I feel sorry for those of you who have had to sit through crappy football games for decades. Let's hope Wistricill can fix this.

This one is pretty sobering. Over the entire country, the Zips did not appear in the most popular group even once (Can't appeared twice). The only other MAC teams not to appear were Buffalo, WMU and EMU. We have a loooooot of work to do.

Actually it was just UB, EMU and Akron. WMU was a might third in the Pacific! We love our Broncos out here. :P

Interesting info: Rutgers is the most watched Big East team?!? And Marshall is #1 in the CUSA?! Randy Moss lives!

Not surprising at all. We do very poor job of brand marketing. Mr Waddell started doing this before he left and nobody picked up the ball.
