While I like what Rob has inherited and I definitely think he has the talent to compete right away, JD inherited 4 NFL players, and many others that were in NFL camps. I don't know that I see 4 future NFL players on this squad. Still, the talent is there for similar results.... Rob can win the MAC within the next two years and should compete for it next year.

It is not about "Who inherited a more talented team," more of what is done with the talent. Sometimes, it is just a chance of face that makes the difference. I am not questioning the talent that JD had at the start. Coach I has talent to complete at least in the MAC East this year.

JD brought talent with him. Does anybody count that towards what he inherited?

Last year, Akron was the 3rd youngest team in the NCAA in terms of the number of underclassman who started. Does that translate to talent? or does it simply mean JD didn't have many seniors to work with?

Top to bottom, RI has better players awaiting him.

JD had Frye...IMNHO he was a joke. Frye is a long line of piss poor QBs who masquerade as NFL qbs these days. Had a career losing record at a MAC school.

Blackburn...solid player. Much better pro than college player.

Hixon....was on defense and JD turned him into an NFL player. Brookhart should get the credit for Hixon.

I don't remember number four. Corner? BG transfer.

Without the guys JD brought with him (Biggs, Getsy, AA), the team is a joke his second year. Besides these four players, there was garbage left behind by Owens.

Owens pissed all over the program on the way out.....JD didn't.

I said this on another thread, and I'll repeat it here....

With all due respect to everyone who wants to be a prognosticator, there's one major problem here: We KNOW how certain players peformed over the next 2-3 years after Lee's departure. We have NO IDEA what is going to become of the players we have now.

And once again (as GP1 points out), would someone please remind the Lee fans out there about Getsy, Biggs, Alleman and Hixon before we have to hear any more "JD won because of Lee's players" remarks?
