suziq
My family will be attending the game that day. since we'te not from Akron, or even Ohio, we're not that familiar with the area. Would anyone have any recommendation where we could make reservations for a Thanksgiving Day meal? Thanks in advance.
Dr Z
Nothing against you suziq, but we need to paste a "sticky" for out of towners. This question has been answered very well by a few. you can start with this thread Here are some more good suggestions One more
suziq
Thanks, i'd appreciate it if you locate it. A sticky is a great idea. Could come in handy year round. I knew that you guys would take care of me!
a-zip
I know this a rather trifling comment but............Since we are going to be on National TV on Thanksgiving, I wish we were wearing our new/current uniforms. No disrespect to the teams of the past but since we are going to be on display nationally, shouldnt we look up to date. I am skeptical about the timing and turnout for this game, but definately dont agree with the timing of the throwback uniforms. It's not like the nation is going to go run out buy throwback Akron jerseys. BTW, I still have mine and will be wearing it.

Dr Z
I like 'em. I have seen much worse "throw backs" Beats that "athletic yellow" we used to wear with the "action A"
Elmore James
Long live the "Action-A"...... Honestly, the throwbacks are pretty cool......not as nondescript as I imagined...
JP Morgan
Ugghhh! Those are bad! I don't know that the average viewer will know that they are throwbacks or that Akron has not stepped out of the Faust era. I say ditch 'em and go with the current uni's. Z-Pouch
You think they would have learned from the retro basketball fiasco (those were really bad, these can atleast be mistaken for an 80s or 90s jersey). What a horrible idea when getting some national exposure and having a relatively new logo and colors to promote. There are still websites out there today that have not picked up the new logo and use the Action A. At least there can be the argument that not many people will be watching - but what about the ones that do outside the area - I dont think it will leave much of a positive impression. The Thanksgiving game has all the fixings of a train wreck -- Thanksgiving day, 10AM, meaningless game against a team with 1 win, retro uniforms, students on break -- and all on Semi National TV or whatever you want to call ESPNU. I guess that's the bright spot, ESPNU. Now if it ends up on ESPN2 ? Ouch.
Elmore James
As an outsider....I don't think the Thanksgiving morning game is the disaster some of you think it's going to be. I'll eat crow if I'm wrong, but I think we're grossly underestimating the appeal of going to a football game on Thanksgiving morning in Akron....Lots of football fans in NE Ohio with nothing to do....I'll be there. bigzipguy
3-way tie scenario: I may look like I am being optimistic to the point of being absurd but here goes: If Akron beats OU and Can't, and B.G. beats Miami and Toledo beats B.G., then we have a 3-way tie with all teams at 5-3 conference record. First tie-breaker is head-to-head for each of the three teams. This would be a wash Second tie-breaker would be division record. Again a wash. Third tie-breaker would be the combined winning percentage of each teams western division opponets. If the following happens: 1.) Toledo wins out(vs N. Ill, at B.G) 2.) C. Mich wins out(at W.mich, at Ball St) 3.) Ball St wins at E. Mich 4.) N. Ill wins at home vs W. Mich Then for B.G. combined conference win of west opponets is 15-9 Then for Akr " " " is 15-9 Then for Miami " " " is 14-10 Therefore Miami is eliminated, and since Akron beat B.G. , Akron wins the East.
