No reason given for his departure. Looks like he left on Monday, after giving the new coaching staff a try.

Here is a link from the Erie paper. There goes my prediction against Syracuse :wall::rofl:

I know it sounds bad to say, but this is probably a good thing. It is hard to believe a guy puts up no numbers and gets a scholarship because he runs a fast 40 time. Granted, he was in a run oriented offense, but that still makes the learning curve huge to jump to the D1 level as a receiver. I wish him luck in whatever he decides to do.

Hopefully Ianello has another guy stashed away somewhere. He keeps bringing in guys at the last minute and they all seem like talented players.

I don't think he has anybody left this season. It's almost too late to go out and get anybody now unless they're a JUCO with experience in the schemes we're running.

I would like to see LeVon Morefield earn a scholarship as a senior and complete his amazing underdog story.

Any time a player does not want to be with your program, you are better off cutting ties with him. In this case Mike realized we were not the place for him so he did the right thing. Both the team and he will be better off for it. I do not know how he was handling the competition, but at this stage his departure is no loss. Let's wish him well.

Having been skeptical of coach I earlier, I am more and more impressed with his handling of his first camp. Getting players who are passionate about wearing the blue and gold is a fundamental building block of success. He is doing that. I don't think we will break .500 this season, but again, I like want I see and hear from the pre-season. If coach I can build a team that competes, that doesn't hide behind excuses and that plays with intense pride, I know better days are ahead. :thumb:

Let's also remember that this kid was offered an on-the-spot scholly because he impressed at a football camp he only decided at the last minute to attend. If I recall correctly, he was all set to focus on track in college until the offer from JD developed. I'll bet he decided this past week that he didn't really want to play football anymore period. Best of luck in your track career and Mike if that is the case, and good luck with everything down the road! I think sometimes we forget the focus and determination that is required at the D-1 level. It sure ain't for everybody and I respect those realize that early on and take appropriate steps.

Well said. I hope he does well in whatever he pursues. Maybe he can run track for us if he is at the highest level of collegiate competition, 'cause we ain't chopped liver in our program. Coach Mitchell has his sights set very high. :NCAAC:
