Anyone keeping charts on which teams are going to which conferences should be using a pencil, not a pen. Latest is that Louisville, not West Virginia, might be Missouri's replacement in the Big 12:
How about WVU and L'Ville? That's how I read the stories. My esteemed colleague from Green should know it doesn't always have to be one or the other.

My prediction is that within the next few years the Big Ten will expand to 16 teams and that Missouri will be in. Probably Pitt and Syracuse as well. Then they will go hard after Notre Dame to be the 16th team.
You lost me here. Nobody will exit one of these conferences after getting into one. The conferences are setting up huge buy-out clauses right now. The decisions these schools make the next few months will live with them for at least 50 years.MAYBE if Missouri is getting destroyed in the SEC, they will want easier competition in a few years and move to the Big Ten. Not likely, but that could be an option.

Just had an interesting thought: if Louisville goes to the Big 12, their soccer program will be looking for a new home because the Big 12 doesn't sponsor soccer. Same goes for WVU. Will Ken Lolla end up back in the MAC?
It's an interesting thought. But don't you think it's more likely they would end up back in Conference USA for soccer? They'd probably want to be in with more traditional rivals like Kentucky, Memphis etc. Although an Akron/Louisville soccer rivalry has a lot going for it, I'm not sure any other MAC programs have that appeal for the Cardinals.

Sounds vaguely like something Marlo Stanfield might say. But, yeah, it could be either, both or neither. That's why I suggested keeping score with a pencil. I'd also suggest keeping extra erasers around, as the pencil will likely run out of eraser before it runs out of lead.

Dave don't know Marlo. It was only Marlo's way in his world. That's why the co-op didn't last.
DiG seems to be more like the Proposition Joe type to me. And clearly, that means he doesn't understand Marlo.

True dat. Me and Proposition Joe prefer peaceful solutions to disputes.
ArticleProp Joe's loyalty to the past did him in. He didn't understand the younger generation and in fact tried to change the future by making it like the past.

Nah, what did Joe in was that he trusted without verifying, a common mistake across the generations.Another common mistake across the generations is to trust in the belief that everything in the past is inferior to everything in the future or vice versa, again a case of trusting without veryifying.

I like to think that fear of the future will do us in before anything.... “Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.” -- YodaSort of brings us around to the Zips. I'm not afraid that we might land in a division outside of the BCS level. I don't fear the conference shake-ups either. I think there is a good chance that we might end up in a better place than we are right now if we, and other like us, are smart. If we startle in fear of the current changing landscape and make stupid decisions like a mega conference between whatever schools were looking at this idea, mw, cusa, etc., we will be in the same place we are with the same problems we currently have. We'll just start to call our cold a virus. Either way, it is the same thing. The MAC and MAClike schools need to move with purpose and confidence into the future.

When it comes to the future, the only thing we have to fear is fear itself. (Have I heard that before?)It's unlikely that everything that worked in the past will work the same way in the future, so it's best to be open to new ideas to deal with new challenges. On the other hand, it's not smart to completely ignore the accumulated wisdom of the past -- tribal knowledge, so to speak. History has a way of repeating itself, and those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. (Have I heard that before?)Then, not heard as often, but words of wisdom, nonetheless:Profound skepticism is favorable to conventions, because it doubts that the criticism of conventions is any truer than they are.

GP1, I respect your opinion on this, but I don't think you realize that conferences aren't really just about athletics. WVU has no chance of the Big Ten, and a miniscule chance at the ACC. Those 2 conferences take academics just as seriously as athletics. Academics as a whole institution, not how smart the players are.for instance, the Big Ten isn't going to accept anyone that isn't an AAU member, which WVU is not.
Looks like WVU to Big XII. I guess schools with low academic standards like Baylor and Texas will have another friend to play football with.Want to know why teams like Missouri, WVU, etc. are passing on the Big Ten? It has nothing to do with academic standards and the Big Ten passing on them. If it was, Nebraska wouldn't get in. It's because the league is crap and schools want to be part of something bigger, not smaller. Adding Nebraska to the league does nothing more than add an average Big 12 team to the league. Granted, Nebraska is still better than 90% of the Big Ten, but the rest of the league isn't very good.Academics have noting to do with the moves conferences are making.
You honestly believe that WVU and Missouri took a "pass" on joining the Big Ten? Wow. They would kill to get an invite.
Maybe pass isn't the right word. They looked at better options. Missouri was always rumored to join the Big Ten and they didn't because the SEC is a better league. WVU didn't go crawling on their hands and knees to the Big Ten. Outside of Notre Dame, future Big Ten expansion will be adding garbage to an already bad league. Certainly not a Leader in college football.
They aren't the Legends they proclaim to be either.
 Well played

Also, as Cincy's prominence diminishes, OSU's grows.
I don't think the two are connected. Cincy has been very good the past few seasons. Except for getting blown out by Florida in the Sugar Bowl, I can't remember them getting blown out by anyone. Historically, Cincy has been a bad program and will find their way back some time soon.

I don't think it's noticed as much in NEO as it would be in SWO.

Looks like it's WVU and not Louisville headed to the Big 12.
I can say now that that the Big East is done in Football. Even if they bring in all three Service Schools and a "few ringers," they are no longer a BCS Conference. Everyone who said that we should go there (myself included), is a bad move now, unless it is Basketball only. With the article I just read on Cleveland.com about paying student-athletes and in another thread on this topic. It looks like the MAC is doomed with nowhere to go.

West Virginia looking into putting their Men's Soccer program into the MAC or C-USA.If they joined they would be the second-closest team to Akron in terms of travel, behind only Bowling Green.
Topdrawersoccer shows 5 teams from Conference USA being ranked for the playoffs. With Marshall and Kentucky, you'd think that Conference USA is their likely destination. http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soc...nce-usa/cfid-10
