Dr Z
Wednesday, November 30, 2005 1:00 p.m Tony Grossi Plain Dealer Reporter The long-anticipated debut of Charlie Frye as Browns starting quarterback might happen on Sunday. Coach Romeo Crennel said tendinitis in Trent Dilfer's right knee would keep him out of Wednesday's practice, enabling Frye to take all the repetitions with the first team. Crennel said it's possible Dilfer could still make the start if he gets back on the field by Friday. Dilfer said he would do all he could to prepare to play, but he indicated the knee hurts worse than from tendinitis. Frye said he is looking forward to working through the week for his first start. He played only one snap in the loss in Minnesota and was removed after an interception. source
msopher
Great, Fyre throws 3 picks on Sunday and the Browns lose by 2 TD's. And Browns fans still think he should start the next week...
JP Morgan
He threw one pick (not three) on a play in which he had two D Linemen breathing down his throat. Also, the reciever later admitted he ran the wrong route. Thats the only play Frye was involved in the entire game. I'm not saying that Frye is the Browns savior, but I'd like to see him to get a shot.

Since you can see the future, I will be waiting for the winning lottery numbers.
Dr Z
I don't see them finishing with any more than 6 wins. I think they HAVE to start Frye at least two games before the end of the season. They have to see what they think they have in him. I'm sure Romeo would like to start him later rather than sooner though (@ OAK). They are 35 mill under the salary cap at the end of this year, so if Frye doesn't perform, or at least show the potential to perform, look for them to go QB hunting again in the FA market. They really need to know what they have in Frye. Maybe he will make it, or maybe he will bust. They do need to see more than 1 pass per game. You are a jealous hater. Why do you even post in here so much?? Is it because Toledo (where you don't even go) has nothing to talk about right now since we're in the MACC and they're not?? I don't know why you feel the need to trash Frye, especially considering Gradkowski is not half the QB Frye is. Hmmm....well actually, maybe that has something to do with it.... Akron may be in the MACC, but Toledo is in a bowl game so you're comment was totally stupid. Akron may be sitting home after tonight (which I hope they don't) while my Rockets will be playing 3 weeks from now. Second, I won't compare Fyre to Gradkowski. You can't either. Fyre was great for Akron and Bruce is great for Toledo. Who is better? That is up to interpretation. Since many judge by championships then the nod would go to Bruce. He has 2 MAC title rings of which one he was the starter. Also, Bruce will have started in 3 bowl games. Fyre has neither of those things on his resume, but he was still a great QB for the MAC. Quickzips
I think the big diffrence b/w Gradkowski and Frye is what they are/will do for the program overall. Charlie is by far a big reason why this program is moving forward. He has become sort of the face of the zips and that is going to help at least short term with recruiting and attendance. I see Bruce on the other hand who has had more accomplishments, but is more of a product of an already good system in a school that already has a pretty good fanbase. In the end I think that will be the diffrence between the two in regards to what they do for their respective colleges. I hope this doesn't come off sounding like a slam on Bruce b/c I think he is by far the best QB in the MAC right now praticularly concerning a pro-prospect QB. Omar Jacobs on the other hand has Andre Ware style bust written all over him and his draft stock is falling b/c of it while Bruce's is rising. Obviously Fyre put Akron on the map where Gradkowski continued Toledo's success. Bottom line, both QB's have brought some great publicity to the MAC.
