Triple-T
thought i'd check in every now and then on you guys....looking forward to seeing you in detroit. i'm afraid i don't know too much about your team, but i saw a little of the macc game and was really impressed. have to been to a bowl before? if not, there is nothing like it! we're new to the bowl picture as well...this is our 3rd in a row, but we had been through a 32 year dry spell. if you have any questions about memphis, let me know and i'll try to help. HornLakeTiger
Another Memphis type checking in with the Zip faithful. Like my buddy Triple-T said, I don't know much at all about Akron...but I hope to get somewhat educated about your team over the next couple weeks. I'm not sure how many Tiger fans will be heading for Detroit, but I'll be bringing my family of four up there. Looking forward to it!!!! Dr Z
if you have any questions about memphis, let me know and i'll try to help. Do you guys have a football forum? Which one? Usually you can get a pretty good feel about the team from poking around the forum. Are there any people's post on that board that we should ignore? If it's not too much of a hassle, could you scan the playbook, and make downloadable pdf's and post them here? Looking forward to meeting some Tiger fans on the 26th. I know one thing we have in common, we both like to beat Marshall. Next time you see a Marshall fan, tell them we miss beating them.

Quickzips
I'm just kinda curious as to how effective you guys think your passing game will be in this one. NIU kinda proved last week that it takes more than a powerful running game to win in Detroit against us (although army manhandled us with theirs, but that was in a bad weather game where the pass just never could get going anyways). I know you guys are on like your #4 QB and he is a good runner as well, but do you think he will be able to throw the ball well enough to keep a little of the load off of DeAngelo Williams and get the victory? I only ask b/c in the end this is really what killed NIU. Putting too big a load on the RB, burning him out by the 4th Quarter and having no legitimate passing game. tigerjeb
we can throw the ball some - mainly screens and roughly 20 yard sideline patterns. avery can throw a deep ball, but the game plans have been grind it out and protect the ball, so he's not asked to chance it. our kicking game is VERY good and we have the #4 ranked rushing offense in the nation. this should be a very interesting game
InTheZone
What you Tiger fans need to know is that we've got a great coaching staff. We've beaten some teams in the past two years with more talent than us on gameplan and our guys busting their ass. Jim Flemming has our defense much improved and while I can see your running back having a good day if he's as good as you guys say he is, I can also see us holding him under 100. Looking forward to the game!!
uofmbrad
Putting too big a load on the RB, burning him out by the 4th Quarter and having no legitimate passing game. That's the beautiful thing about DW...there is no such thing as "too big a load" on him. The kid's gone for 200+ in four games this year, and 198 in a fifth. I'm not guaranteeing a win here, but if DW goes for 270 and 2 tds on 42 carries like Garrett Wolfe did for NIU, and we play ball control like we have during the latter part of the season, I like our chances. Zip Watcher
I'm starting to look forward to this matchup from a pure "great football to watch" perspective. Seems like the coaching & strategy are going to rule the day here .. should be fun.

Looking forward to the game!! lots of people have said that. he is NOT your run of the mill running back and just may wind up one of the 5 invited to new york for the heisman presentation if he gets 100+ yds, he will break the ncaa record for 100 yard rushing games with 34. he is the all time ncaa all purpose yard leader and top 5 all time ncaa rushers. Zipsrifle
our kicking game is VERY good and we have the #4 ranked rushing offense in the nation. this should be a very interesting game If there is one thing that I've come to respect more this season, it's starting position. That's what killed us against Ball State and that's what let us dominate Can't from the get-go. If their kicking game is that good, we'll have to march down the field a lot. OTOH, Dom is WAY overdue for a return all the way. He doensn't have one yet this season and I just can't believe he'd be shutout this year. I got one of those feelings. :macc:
UAZips
I don't think it was ment that DW CAN'T go for over 200 yards, in my opinion, he's going to get his yards one way or another. I think what was ment was the number of times he carries the ball. Wolfe was approaching 40+ carries and by the last one, couldn't get the few yards needed to seal up the game. One thing I like about this Zips team is they KNOW how to come from behind on a big stage. They've done it twice in the last two years, against Marshall and NIU, both on national television. Now, hopefully they won't have to come from behind in this game, but this isn't a team to count out if they get down by a couple touchdowns. tigerjeb
rest assured that after that tap-dance bowling green did on us last year, no one in memphis is taking this lightly
