I'm looking forward to another Crew season!

If you love soccer, Akron and Cleveland Outlaws are putting together a few trips again this season to car pool down and back. If you're ever interested let me know. I know a few of us are going down for the CONCACAF Champions League match vs. RSL Feb. 22nd, it might be still winter, but the boys will still be on the pitch. We're probably looking at a match in mid April vs Sporting KC or early May vs Seattle if you want to see former Zips players live. We usually head down a few hours early, so we can stop in the local HSH soccer pub or if we have to many people, we might just tailgate an hour or two before the match. We always stand in the supporter section, tickets are cheaper, and the atmosphere is fantastic.

Who wants to meet May 14 or July 10th for the BIG derby? I think I might be headed to PDX. Zakuani vs Nagbe.

BTW -- Where is Ubiparipovic? Back to Bosnia? I don't think he has played for them internationally before, so I suspect he was trying to become a US national. Anyone heard? Strange.

No problem on the MLS TV schedule pdf. It was easy enough to share once I created it. No guarantee on it's accuracy, however, since I didn't double-check it. So, you may want to verify it against the schedules at MLSsoccer.com.

I didn't want to start a topic for this, so I'm going to enter it into this professional thread. I met a really interesting former Cleveland Force player the other night (can't remember his name right now). Played in the mid 80s. He made $30,000 per year and they paid them three times a year. Said he was young and stupid and would blow his salary in two months and have nothing for two months.

Looking at the Crew's website, it appears that only the Crew HOME GAMES are on ONN this season. So, in the schedules I provided, you can scratch all of the ONN/Crew away telecasts.

2011 Crew Schedule

Sorry to go back and forth on this, but the Crew's website is now showing that ONN TV is broadcasting the Crew at DC United match on Saturday (March 19th)...so, perhaps ONN is showing ALL Crew games (home & away) this year as I had originally thought.

Of course, now that I have discovered that the Crew vs DC United game will be on ONN this Saturday, I've also discovered that Perry Kitchen has been called up to the US U20's. Perhaps Kris Korb will find his way into the game.

Is Darlington healthy/going to play tonite vs Colo.? In any case, I look for a blowout. Timbers are very shorthanded (footed). Second game -- televised on West Coast/Hawaii, Sporting KC playing the US Goats @Chivas. I forgot over basketball season -- did CDCUSA pick up another Akron player?

:wall: I guess yesterday's loss to those damn Irish affected my memory.

Nagbe is still injured. Zarek plays for the Goats.

Zarek was called up to the US U-20 national team. Looking at the Chivas roster (especially the addition of Alejandro Moreno on top), you can see that they could be the most improved team in the West this year. Worst to first? Well, frankly, I'm taking San Jose to win the conference this year. Here's the preview heading into the opener vs Sporting Club.

Wow, Z.I.P. Crew Xtra just showed (prediction) Chivas battling with Portland and Vancouver for the basement of the West. They also had the Earthquakes at 6, just making the playoffs.

Also, looks like Perry is playing tonight. I thought he was called up to US U20 national team. He's in at left back, I believe.

Good to see Kitchen and Valentin get the first MLS start before they head off to Dallas for the US U-20 camp.

I thought Kitchen played well against the Crew, I didn't notice any mistakes although the Crew looked horrible. It could possibly be a long season for Crew fans.

And I read ATT will be streaming a game a week for free. Although I haven't been able to find a schedule yet.

It was cool midway through the first half of the Sporting KC v Chivas match to listen to the MLS announcers talk about the Akron reunion of Bunbury, Zemanski, Gavin, and Valentin prior to the start of the game and continue discussing Caleb Porter's pipeline to the MLS and Akron's success. All saw action except Teal, who is still nursing the elbow injury. I hope he's able to play when SKC visits Columbus on April 16th.

Also, read that Ampai subbed into the San Jose game in the 81st minute.

Was Zip_Me87 the only other boarder to see the Chivas game? While Zemanski did score his first MLS goal -- on a terrible attempt at an offsides trap by the KC defense that backfired -- he was also blamed in part for the first goal of the game. While I did not see it clearly, I think Ben either A) failed to clear a through ball he should have taken, or perhaps B) passed the ball back to his keeper which was intercepted by the SKC rookie who put it easily in the net. Valentin (who was repeatedly called "Valentine" by the announcer, made some good passes, and also made some errors that the announcers called out and could have cost his team. Also, while I missed a lot of this contest, Blair Gavin was subbed on in the second half, and it looked like he has not had a haircut since his injury last July. Not that there's anything wrong with that -- it was just a bit startling to see his shoulder-length locks after his always being closely shorn in the past.

Interesting contrast between the two LA teams at Home (Depot Center): Chivas played in dry conditions before under 10k, while the Galaxy last night drew about 20k in a constant downpour -- by the second half it was like being in a wading pool. The ball just would not roll, especially near the New England goal, which benefitted the road team in the 1-1 draw.
