CSN article is less than glowing about Akron's five star recruiting class.

While the article is lengthy it just does not "snap" out as high praise.

I am wondering if CSN would even put the Akron class in their top five. It certainly is not

the top recruiting class looking through their rose tinted shades.

Just remember this 2010 National Champions.

Didn't see it that way at all. It mostly concentrated on how difficult it is to replace the group we had. It also had this comment:

Ampaipitakwong, who was a 2010 College Soccer News All-American, will be remembered not only for his stellar play on the field but for the fact that he was Porter’s first big-name recruit.

I think he will remain Caleb's biggest name recruit for quite some time, 14 letters is tough to beat.

I didn't see it that way either, GoZips. It said we were going to compete for a national championship in spite of having a rebuilding year. What more could you ask for?

That CSN article didn't even discuss our 3 redshirt Freshman or several of the new recruits. It read as non-committal...recognizing another top recruiting class, but afraid to make a prediction given that only 4 starters are returning. Great thing about college soccer is that soon we get a [spring] preview.

Definitely, best example would be Scott Caldwell. I don't think anyone would rank him very high nationally, but he fits Porter's system well and look what happened last post-season!

Yes, but I dont' think that's exactly what he meant due to the time limits on answering those questions. It has to be some of both. Recruit players who can play the system/style of play. Adjust the system to fit the recruited players' abilities as a team.

I don't think a WVU type of player [strong, burly and very physical with minimum foot skills] would be recruited by Caleb.

Member of U-18, U-17, U-15 and U-14 U.S. national youth teams ... ninth-ranked high school prospect in the nation by Top Drawer Soccer ... 2008 Parade All-American ... three-time NSCAA Youth All-American (2006, ’07, ’08)

OK, he missed the U-16 national team, but I think if I were a coach, I wouldn't mind having such a lowly-ranked player on my team.

Hmmm... surprises me, but I guess I was wrong. I would have never guessed he was a top-ten recruit. I love Scottie, but at times last year I was scratching my head about why he was out there over a guy like Speas. Of course, he showed why Porter started him in the post-season!
