Zips Future Schedule Updated

This is a not a bad schedule and I am really glad to see Indiana, Syracuse, and Kentucky at home. We had to do a 2 or 1 with Cincinnati? I'd say screw that and do a 2 for 1 with say Pitt or Northwestern or something. I wish we could get a west coast game (UCLA, Stanford, Cal or, if necessary, a home and home with San Jose).Gotta get rid of Florida Intl. no upside there at all. This schedule is definitely an upgrade from years past and will be a good test. Exciting!

A lot of schools have written into the AD's contract that if another school hires them away. that school is obligated to a 2 for 1 with the orginal school. Is the 2 for 1 with Cincinnati part of MT's buyout contract?I'm guessing that ths Indiana series is part of the scheduling agreement the MAC announced with the Big Ten last year??

I can't see Boston College coming here next year with the way it is set-up. I'm assuming they would want return games pretty quickly (within 4 years), and I don't see room for those return games.I think a 1-for-1 with a CUSA, MWC or WAC team makes the most sense, with Akron's home game being next year. Maybe we should "start" somthing right away with Memphis!

Let me amend my statement= I don't see room for BC IF Akron doesn't want to continue on the 5 home, 7 away schedule. Maybe they could get a 1 for 1 with BC if they play a "home" game at Browns stadium.

 I'm a bit puzzled. I'm told the 12-game schedule will include 5 OOC games. Is that true? And BTW -- though it won't be official for a few more weeks, Akron's MAC West crossover road opponent this season will be @Toledo. The game will be later in the year -- possibly in November. The MAC office is hoping to brew up a MACC rematch, and the teams haven't played in years. That should mean we get them at home in 07.Roo under a palm tree. B)

I called this last week but you guys thought I was crazy. No, we won't play at Akron in 2007, but we will go in 2008. Maybe by then you can draw at least 15,000. My prediction is that Toledo wipes the floor with you guys at Toledo next fall!It will be an October game. November is filled with West games plus BG. You guys are not important enough for a November game at our house!

ToledoRocket, as dumb as he may be, is right. Boston College will not come to the Rubber Bowl next year, my source tells me. There is nothing to that rumor.
Of course he's dumb. That is a given.I don't care about BC. It's all of his other trying to put UA down BS all the time that I can't stand. He is obviously jealous of the MAC champs, and feels that putting us down all the time, just makes him, and Toledo look better. WHen, in reality, it shows his jealousy. Why else would he be here? I know I don't spend any time on their board.

Indiana at home is a very winnable game. Maybe we can finally beat Hoeppener. MRasor is a good source, so I am disappointed that we don't get BC at home next year. I sure hope we don't play a 1-AA team. Glad to have UC on the schedule. We should draw some good crowds for that game and have a good following to Cincy. By the way, I saw MT at the WSU game last week. How about a 2 for 1 in bball with UC?ZIP, any idea who the other crossover games are with the MAC West?

Toledo an easy game? I tend to disagree.I do not like our OCC schedule at all for next year. Look what happened to Ball State this year. We got to stop scheduling so many unwinnable games. I can see playing one storied program a season but we need to be reasonable here. I do like what I see for future seasons though, as we play teams like Indiana, Syracuse, Army, and Kentucky. These are the teams we need to play on a consistent basis because they give us a realistic shot to get our BCS wins. Force the big boys to beat up on each other.

I'm liking the OOC schedules! These are all winnable games (save, perhaps for Penn State next year - though they are losing Robinson - and at OSU in 2007). I believe these are the types of OOC games we have needed for years - BCS conference schools WHO WE CAN BEAT!!! Though we are not a pushover to anyone anymore (that's been a loooooong time coming!), some of the OOC games in the past were awfully difficult (i.e., Iowa, LSU, OSU). However, with the likes of Cincinnati, NC State, Indiana, 'Cuse & Kentucky on the calendar (not top-10 caliber opponents, but mid-level BCS schools) we can now enter all of those OOC games with excitement & realistic confidence that we'll win - not merely hoping to just keep the game close! We can hang with any Big East school and @ least half of the Big Ten!Next season: Top 25!Go Zips!

Just to throw this one out there but I have it on very good authority even as i double checked to make sure that BC was a legitimate shot to come to the bowl in 06. That was shut down after we won the MACC and they backed off of the table. It was going to be a game where we switched with Can't State and brought BC here, Can't would go to NC State and we would actually do a 1 and 1 with BC with us going there in a future game and them coming here in 06.So ToledoRockets, the rumor was true, but as it turns out it will not happen that way afterall. I just wanted to make sure and shut up the troll with his nonsense so he can search around and find something new for us.thanks for playing!

So I guess that AK-Zips has a pipeline to the AD at BC? That makes a lot of sense! I am sure that the last thing BC cared about, if they cared at all, was that you guys won the MAC Championship game. Prior to that game you were a 6-5 team just like the year before. If they were going to switch the game, and I HIGHLY doubt it, they would not have cared about playing a 6-5 Akron or a 7-6 Akron.Unless you have actual facts and sources to back up your facts, you are just speculating and dreaming.
