Zippy989 Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 Yipes... awful last 11:00 but a W is a W.... Zips won this one with heart....CMU gained confidence and almost pulled it off at home... MAC road games... geez....No more CSU games in the middle of conference schedules please.... Quote
Valpo Zip Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 Ooooh Boy !I was taking those two games (central and eastern michigan) as granted... I can't believe we had to go to overtime. It seems that something is going wrong... what ever the problem is, i am glad that it is happening with CSU and CMU because we are still managing to get the W but when we play the MAC east foes, we have to be at our best. Zipsrifle Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 DAMN IT!!!! I was locked and loaded, ready to go to the game when I left work at 4:00 and then I got on the freeway..... CMU is NORMALLY about a 2 hour drive from where I live and once I hit the freeway.....sigh....everyone was driving at 30 mph. Yes, there was a little bit of ice on the freeway, but people are complete idiots when it comes to driving in the winter I figured by the time I got through Flint and Saginaw Rush hour traffic, with these conditions, I would have hit Mount Pleasant around 8:30. It sounds like I missed a close game.....DAMN. I will be going to the game this Saturday since I will be in town, and I'll hit the game at EMU. Oh well, it's not like I would have been able to give much insight into what happened anyway. Quote
Z-Pouch Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 In complete control, 50-29 and then it looks like we ran out of gas due to 3 games in 5 days. One thing to remember though, everyone is going to have their off nights and close ones - good to see the Zips are now winning these games rather then losing as in the past. Central also had Can't on the ropes at the end of the game before giving that one away. Any MAC victory on the road is a good one - as said, a W is a W. Things continue to get tougher, both competition and schedule with games - Sat, Tues, Thurs and Sunday. I hope we can get some rest with an easy game Sat w/Eastern for Dials and Travis. Looks like we need it. Quote
Kangaroo Craig Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 They were definitely tired. I heard Frenchy say that the entire league is going to play, I think, three games in five or six days next week in order to accomodate fitting the bracket buster into the schedule. Two of those next three are against Miami and OU. Rest well boys! Quote
bigzipguy Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 No matter how tough(mentally and physically) the Zips are, there are going to breakdown, unless Dambrot starts using a four guard rotation again. I know it may cost theteam some points over the course of a game, from a defensive standpoint, but it willpayoff as the season goes along. Quote

I know it may cost theteam some points over the course of a game, from a defensive standpoint, but it willpayoff as the season goes along. You saw after 3 consecutive days of games in Puerto Rico...we died at the end of game #3. No field goals for essentially the last 10 minutes of the game. After our recent 3-games-in-5-days, we again died with about 10 minutes remaining of game #3. It scares me a bit for the MAC tourney. 3 games in 3 days. We need the scrubs on the bench to step up and give us some quality minutes over the next couple weeks if we want a championship. Quote
zipfan 81 Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 They were saying Nick Dials looked like he could not even throw up his free throws he was so tired at the end. I don't like it, I don't think he should be in there until he can't move. They did put Mraz in for 2 minutes, but that was in the first half.I think scrubs are all ready willing and able to come in, but its the coaches call. Quote
