Doug Snyder Posted August 31, 2011 Report Posted August 31, 2011 http://www.buckeyextra.com/content/stories...-for-akron.html I like how he has never critisized his HS coach for his problems. The coach could have handled it differently without blackballing CM8. But he took responsibility and moved on. He will be a better person for it. And I think UofA will benefit from it as well. I really like this guys demeanor. I also believe that winners find ways to win....and CM8 has won big at every stop. Quote
Dr Z Posted August 31, 2011 Report Posted August 31, 2011 This is the quote that sticks out to me. “Clayton has a knack for two things,” Ianello told the Akron Beacon Journal. “One, making big plays to keep things going. Two, for making bonehead plays to stop things from going. He has to eliminate (No. 2).” I hope LR8 has number two worked out before Saturday. That secondary in Columbus has a lot of athletes that can take you out of a game quickly. Quote

Ianello said that's what has separated Moore in the battle with two-year starter Patrick Nicely. Quote

It's a popularity contest Sometimes it is a popularity contest, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. If that popularity contest means your teammates have rallied behind you and are going to play their ass off for you, I'm all for it. Quote

Buckzip Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 http://www.buckeyextra.com/content/stories...-for-akron.html Reading his story from high school reminds me of the story of Stefan Georgevic from Ampipe High school. He disagreed with the coach and got labeled a black sheep. Quote

Bringing this thread back on topic (for D.I.G.). I don't know how LR8 will produce as a QB on the field, but I would suspect his sideline arguments with the coach are over. He chose to come here and play for this coach. His road here seems long and he seems grateful. BTW I think I saw a 4 time super bowl HOF QB argue with his coach once or twice on the sideline. PN7 needs to keep his head up and continue to work hard, his opportunity will come. Quote
Dave in Green Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 I can confirm that Terry Bradshaw was one hard-headed player who was totally focused on winning in both his college and professional careers. So Moore may, indeed, have some similarities. Playing on the edge can produce spectacular results, both good and bad. When you push the envelope, you occassionally cross the line. I remember watching Bradshaw run in college when he was flushed out of the pocket. He did not try to avoid defensive players, but tried to run over them. He actually broke a few defensive players' bones in college when he flattened them. Moore's HS coach was once quoted as saying that Moore sometimes thinks he's a fullback who tries to run over defensive players. No one really knows all the details that led up to Moore's HS coach dismissing him from the team in the middle of a game. The one thing from that incident that I like about Moore is the way he reacted in his public comments in the immediate aftermath of being dismissed from the team a week before the championship game. He was a true team player who wanted to keep the focus on his team and not on himself: “This week isn’t about me. It's about the Louisville Wildcats. They have a big game with Tylertown. I'm going to try to cause as least a distraction as possible. It’s definitely unfortunate. I wish my teammates the best. I was wrong for what I did. But there are two sides to every story and people aren't always as guilty as they seem.” ClarionLedger.com Quote
