Quickzips Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 So we have a huge game this Saturday against our archrival for the outright lead in the MAC East and NOONE is talking about it. What gives? Quote
zipsbandman Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 I have to agree with QZ. What gives nation??? The hoops board is always dead. 2800 in attendance for Buffalo was outright pathetic. Buffalo plans on selling out against us for goodness sake and we can't even break 5k? But we can bring 10k all the way to Detroit? It's time to shove football aside already and get behind this team. We'll judge the recruits when they are on the field. We got a major major game on saturday against a team that clocked us twice last year. Quote
UAFan52 Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 I agree, Hey listen the football season was great, in fact unbelievable and recruiting has been a thrill this year!! But now it is basketball season and it is time to get behind Dambrot and the boys! This Zips squad is putting together a steller season and with us going to crappy Cant State in Portage County it is time we make the trek and get into basketball mode!!!!! Go Zips sweeping the MAC in Football, Basketball and with some luck possibly Baseball Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 I think the Motor City Bowl game showed that Akron fans will show up for big games. The Zips have yet to truely take that "leap" where a home game is...in the minds of the Akron public...a "Big Game."The games vs. Can't and OU will be sellouts. If we win a game at the "Q," every successive game will be teeming with Akron fans.If we lose, the bandwagon stops.Assuming we continue our winning ways, sweep the MAC tourney, and return a bunch of stars for 2006-7, we will have the sellout crowds next season. Wait until you see the football crowds this year, they will blow you away.Fair or not, this season's Zips hoops squad really needs to perform some magic to get the fans in gear. Winning this weekend is the first of 5 big steps:1.) Beat K-ent2.) Beat OU on ESPN3.) Beat Nevada4.) Beat K-ent at home5.) Win the MAC tourneyThat's what we need to do. You can't turn around 16 years of losing/mediocrity with one season of 16 regular season wins. It is a great start, but see above to see what starts the bandwagon. Quote
msopher Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 I noticed only 2800 there for last game. That is pathetic. Toledo draws 3500 per game and they are up and down this season. Bandwagon fans are killing Akron's attendance this year. Quote
