If you're looking for Supporter Section Tickets to Group Stage Olympic Qualifiers in Nashville. Tickets went on sale.

$22 per game or $27 for non-members. $66 for all three US U-23 games(or 6 games, each day is a doubleheader)

I know of possibly 5-7 making the trip. Might be renting a passenger van or at least car pool if anyone is interested in making the trip. Probably would leave early Thursday, March 22nd and return home Tuesday, March 27th.

Crew8 - Since you've been there before, can you verify that the team benches will be on the West side of the stadium? (I'm assuming so given the placement of the VIP Midfield and VIP Midfield Front Row sections.)

I was not in Nashville vs Paraguay. I had plans to make the trip last March, but something else came up that kept me here. I'll be there this time for sure. I tried looking through some photos just now from people who were there, but I can't tell since the stadium looks the same all the way around including the scoreboards on both ends. I would assume it's on the West side like you said.

With the lack of depth on the backline I expect Zarek to make the roster, especially since he can play any position along the backline if needed. Sounds like it might not be the same for Kofi. I wish Perry could have been in this camp to see where he stacks up against the other players in the central defense and central midfield. We're pretty thin at defense and and I think him and Boss have been paired in the backline before, but I like him better in the midfield, though it sounds like Okugo will be tough to beat for that spot.

Seems like Teal has a tougher battle than I realized. We are pretty deep up top, and that article didn't even consider Agudelo or Altidore.

The following Sporting News story mainly concerns a journeyman player's complaint about U.S. national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann favoring foreign-born players over American-born players. Toward the end Coach Porter and UA are briefly mentioned. It's an interesting discussion that presents both sides of the issue:

Journeyman questions Klinsmann's inclusion of 'fake Americans'

This is definitely an interesting discussion topic. Obviously there have been a number of German born additions, and it would be weird if eventually the USMNT was simply communicating in German. I don't think it is as big of an issue as this kid is making it out to be. There are only four big players in the senior team picture (Williams, Johnson, Chandler, Jones) and two of them (50%, if you're not a math wiz) were capped under Bradley. So really, half of it was Bob's doing. So in that respect, I disagree. I also don't agree with the idea that college kids are better than pros. It could be true in some cases, but based simply on the difference in season length, I would imagine the pros are better. Also, in Porter's recent camp, as mentioned, there were five foreign born players, but there were also three college guys, so it's not like they are being completely snubbed.

Another reason I have to disagree is because Clint Dempsey said so. In a recent interview, he touched upon this topic and said that if a player is eligible and is willing to proudly wear the USA kit, then they should be allowed to play for us. Dempsey was born in raised in Texas and is one of the best American soccer players there is, so his opinion counts.

I think as Americans we like to have an image of what an American looks and sounds like. There have been times where even I had wished we had more guys named Michael Bradley on the team, which is weird since I have an Arab name and I'm American. Interestingly enough though, is that isn't really the discussion here, since the German born guys have more "American" names than the "actual Americans." Which sounds more "American," Timothy Chandler, or Carlos Bocanegra? Jermaine Jones, or Josmer Altidore? Daniel Williams, or Oguchialu Chijoke Onyewu? (had to use his full name to really hit the point home). These guys don't sound like Americans, but they are. Which qualities make a person more American? I do agree that for someone who is stepping on US soil for the first time to be doing so in order to train with the US national team, that is a little strange. The thing is though, this isn't the first time this practice has been conducted. We have snatched up players who were born in other countries and made them American because they can play here. The only reason it is an issue now is because out coach is German and there have been several more German-born additions. I will be interested to see how the U-23 situation plays out since there were quite a few of the German-borns called in. Again though, I don't think it would really be an issue though until practices are being conducted entirely in German.

it's such an asinine argument to be making at this point. Terrence Boyd, Dominique Fennel et al are American every bit as much as Hargreaves is English, or Rossi is Italian

Zimmerman's tirade just screams of xenophobia to me

There might be a racial dimension as well - I don't want to be that guy, but where was this outcry when the only 'fake' american was a white guy (holden)?

It's just not worth even arguing about, to many players have dual citizenship across the world. 11 of the 23 players on the 2010 World Cup German squad were born in other countries or had ties to other countries.

Drogba was born in the Ivory Coast, but spent most of his life in Europe. Messi has spent most of his life in Spain, what if he chose Spain over Argentina. Italy had an Argentine born player on the 2006 Championship squad and was ridiculed for not singing the national anthem (Camoranesi).

The rules are pretty simple, so unless FIFA changes the eligibility rules, I have no issues

• His birth is in the territory of the relevant Association

• Either his biological mother or father was born in the territory of

the Association

• Either his grandmother or grandfather were born in the territory of

the Association; or

• The player has lived continuously in the territory of the Association

for at least two (2) years.

In a few weeks Zimmerman's quotes will all be forgotten.

Interesting, I didn't know exactly what the rules were. I think if this kid has a problem he should take it up with FIFA, maybe be they would listen to him haha

I'm with you.

Did you see that Teal played for both the U23s (1st half) and the USMNT (2nd half) in a 1-1 scrimmage draw yesterday (January 17, 2012)? U23s hold senior team to 1-1 draw

Edit: Another article on USSoccer.com prior to the first scrimmage with the senior team. Caleb Porter Pursues Continuity Within U.S. U-23 MNT Field

Edit 2: Listening to Porter in that interview following the 1-1 draw with the USMNT, I realize Caleb's coaching the U23s is not only awesome from the perspective of the additional prestige it brings to our Head Coach and UA in the "soccer world", but also from the perspective of the learning experience it provides our head coach to work with Jurgen and the other coaches in the US Soccer system.
