Akron Can't State game

It always seems to me that good basketball teams have a fifth gear in the second half of a game. K-ent had a fifth gear today and Akron did not. I'm not certain that Akron does have a fifth gear. KD is getting all he can out of this team the entire game. I hope I'm wrong.

i gotta admit, it was just a flat out ass kicking in the second half. i agree we're missing that fifth gear. allowing teams to get back into the games in the second half finally caught up with us. falling apart with turovers, missed shots, no rebounds hurts. i remember losing in football to army and thinking the season was over. hopefully the basketball team can learn from this loss and finish strong. this was bad but it ain't over! don't give up the ship! :screwks: still

Nice second half by Can't. Our guys executed poorly, rebounded badly and still kept it from being a blowout. Part of the problem was Can't turned it up a notch and the rest in my opinion was our play. Our guys will regroup and return the favor Mar. 4 with interest. We seemed to have a short bench too. I never saw Rybak or Mraz and DP must have been hurting because he wasn't out there much. And as always, :screwks:

Again, I'm not real knowledgable on basketball but here's my thoughts.-Excellent first half. We had the crowd out of it and it seemed like Can't was at a complete loss for words. Couldn't have hurt when all the students from the "Stark Campus" started chanting AK-ROWDIES.-Came out in the second half and just never figured it out. Cedric and Romeo seemed to be trying to force a lot of shots that just weren't there. Dials was guilty of it too. Very few open shots and we weren't making them when they were there. Hats of to S.U.K. for making the necessary adjustments at halftime.-Refs absolutely blew goat nutz but they did it for both sides so I guess that makes it ok  -Preston getting into foul trouble and then Futch tweaking his knee hurt big time. We were already hurting for an inside presence and weren't doin much on defense. Being forced to go with Dials, Joyce, Middleton, Linhart and Romeo for a while definitley didn't help things.-Seemed to be a lot of mental errors. Passes to noone, traveling calls, turnovers. Stuff that I'm not used to seeing much of.And ohh yeah. :screwks: :macc: See you at the JAR for your payback flusherheads :john:

they destroyed us in the inside game ! the 3s were falling in the first half but they won't keep falling all the night. You got to score some inside points and for god's sake know how to defend your zone. Our guards did a hekuva job defending the perimeter but inside !!! we had 4 3 points plays (basket in with a FT) 3 from Preston and one from Milum. And for god's sake somebody tells Futch not to shoot 3s anymore i know he can make 1/20 but so does my grandma. It seemed to me that whenever we shoot the ball, no body, (well except Nate Linhart), tries to even reach for an offensive rebound ... what the hell !!! they are not bigger than us nor more athletic. Why can't we get offensive rebounds ?We lost one but the 22-win season is still achievable ! and still :screwks: especially that they can't guard their student section and that idiot was welcoming he fans from stark county

I hope I am wrong, but I think we are in trouble for the tournament. Is there anyone on this board who thinks this team can play at least three games in a row? And that is assuming we get a first round bye. I think we are going to run out of gas and thus our season goes down the tubes. Boy I wish Conyers was playing. That would be our fourth guard and I bet he would be a really good one. :wall::wall: Ditto for Wood :wall::wall: I hate losing to Can't and, if anything, I hope this amplifies the nation's hatred for Can't State and make them wish they never set foot in the JAR in March. :screwks:

Don't hit the panic button yet. If Akron wins out at home and can beat either Miami or Nevada on the road, they should get a shot at an at-large bid for the tourney. 23-6 is awfully tough to leave at home.Of course, Akron would also need a strong showing in the mAC tourney to also garner attention.
