Zips BBALL

Valpo Zip

With the unprecedented excitement accompanying the beginning of this season, I think that we will and we should see greater crowds at the JAR for the men's bball games.

If we all want to become the Gonzaga of the east or the Butler of the MAC, we definitely can't play in the JAR for too long. And as we all know, the best way (maybe the only way) to have a new arena is to outgrow the current one. continuously selling out the JAR will send a message to Dr. P and TW that we need a better place and also will send a message to KD that his efforts are not unnoticed.

Another thing that came up recently when talking about the tournament and Miss State going to NY instead of the zips, the general feeling is that the zips do not travel well. That HAS TO CHANGE. This team is worth traveling for. It is a shame when we go to a tournament and play another team with 10 times bigger crowd on a neutral court. We need to show our support inside and outside the JAR. I think that it should start in Valpo this week end. It is only a 6 hours drive from Akron (4 hours from where I live :P ) and It should be a great time watching 2 competitive games in 2 days.

I've got my hotel reservations, how about you?

Mississippi State would be going to MSG even if they lost to both Eastern Kentucky and AKRON.

These tournaments are preset for a large local and national television audience. Some years

back a mid-major upset a big boy and went to MSG. The reaction was awful as far as the

promoters were concerned.

With the performances of Butler and VCU and others in recent years in the NCAA tournament

it might be time to allow mid-majors go to the semi-finals instead of treating mid-majors as

bastard step children.

The Zips have a great opportunity next season when they travel to Puerto Rico to take part

in the Great San Juan Shoot Out. This is the tournament where Akron first laid wood on

Mississippi State.

Just said hell with it and booked a hotel for the wife and I in Valpo for Friday and Saturday. We'll be leaving Akron around noon for the 5ish hour drive, arriving (hopefully) in time for the 7:30 tip. Does anyone have any clue about tickets? Does the U have any?

Isn't it a 6PM Tip?

According to the tourney website, we'll be up 30 minutes after the conclusion of the 5pm CST Duquesne/UDC matchup.

According to the Valpo site, 7:30 CST/8:30 EST

Gozips.com says 8:30EST

Saturday's game is 6pm CST.

Is the Valpo game going to be available online anywhere? Verizon League Network?
