Dillon Serna commits to Akron:

Akron and New Mexico have yet to kick off their NCAA Tournament (the Zips start tonight against Northwestern) but both of them have already won big this week.

U.S. National Team player Dillon Serna has announced that he'll be taking his talents to Akron next season while the Lobos got a recent commitment from 2013 standout Steve Manios.

As for Serna, he'll be the latest in a long line of attacking talent to make their way to Akron. Ranked No. 11 in the 2012 class Top 100, he's a tricky left-footed winger who is very technical and brings great 1v1 ability.

Serna also has invaluable international experience and will be ready to step into big matches for the program.

Dillon Serna is great news!

I believe Matt Foldesy (St. Ignatius) is still on the hook as well.

Do not forget Andy Chiu.

A friend of mine that graduated from Copley, said that when he went to the Copley-St. Ignatius state semifinal at Nordonia High School, Coach Porter and his staff was there...

Im pretty sure that headline was meant for the New Mexico kid :-) Serna is obviously the better player but last year wasnt really a breakout season for Akron, it was what was expected after the previous two.

Only thing I don't like is that the kid is another midget. 5-7, 135 lbs. Well, I guess as usual we have to trust our beknighted coach's knowledge of the midget corp. :D He scores goals though. Let's hope he's as good as the guy we lost to Chapel Hill.

Go Zips -- beat the Mildcats!

BTW -- I noticed on the USSoccer site (linked from above link) is a link to a USSoccer podcast with our man Zarek "Rudolph" Valentin(o).
