this doesnt have the feel of a round of 16 NCAA game with the emotion of the players or the atompshere (of what we can see) of the stadium. were so flat right now, sigh

I thought the exact same thing. Everything about this game is flat! Yet there are 2100 fans there, and the announcer calls it a "great crowd"?

We didn't deserve to win this one. Out of sync the entire game. Yes, maybe we got robbed on having a goal called back and maybe Charlotte's goal was soft, but they did what was necessary to win, and we didn't. Not to mention they had two really good opportunities that they didn't score on. We didn't even have that. Just a lot of corners (and not enough that were put across) and few shots on goal.

Prior to the season and given the losses to our roster, no one expected us to win the National Championship. Realistic expectations had us winning a few Tournament games and we did that. We met expectations...nothing more, nothing less.

The key to beating us was to shut down Mattocks. Even mediocre teams that managed to do that had the opportunity to win.

Good luck to Charlotte. On to next season for us.

Basketball and a new football coach here we come.

Sorry boys but the better team won today. Outplayed from end to end. No possession, and when we did have it we kept it in the air. What the hell is that? That is not the same game I've seen the Zips play all year.

Credit to the victors. They seemed to be a step quicker to the ball most of the night. After what we lost from last years squad advancing to the sweet 16 was not the poorest of seasons. I'm still damn proud of this team.

This is a heart breaker, i thought the new lineup was the real deal to take us all the way. btw how did this thread turn into the game thread?

The watch party had around 40 people including a MLS player.

Was a good year with lots of great memories for us fans. We have the draft next and then we root for Porter as the US23 coach. We're a young team losing only a few players. I look forward to next year.

Again, sucks we lost, but there were a lot of positives this year. Tailgating tradition for soccer games will continue next year.

Mr. Chris Korb was in the house.

I'm not sure that number is correct. We had over 4,000 for our exhibition against UNC Chapel Hill and there looked to be about the same size crowd tonight, if not more. Regardless, your fans were loud, passionate, and classy. We were impressed with the crowd that made the trek. You guys have a good program and I wish you the best of luck in the seasons to come.

The final third or even the middle third had no connections. We just couldn't crack Charlottes back line. (Reminded myself of watching Celtic FC backline in Champions League, no shots on goal, just defense. Kit similarity helped too) Darren was non-existent or the entire attack. We were shut down. Although we have a new foundation for next season. can't wait.

Mildly disappointing ending, Charlotte has a good team, I wish them luck. Would be nice to see another mid-major win the National Title instead of the usual suspects. Replacing seven starters and still making the sweet sixteen? Still damn good but I am glad Porter doesn't think so. Another great year for Zips soccer.
