Mattocks has said he's going pro for sure, for what it's worth:

Segment on Mattocks around the 4:30 mark

sounds like he's got some options. Personally, I'd love to see him in the MLS. Not sure what the other clubs will offer but if he signs Generation Adidas contract, he'll make around $120-150k per year in the MLS.

yeah, it'd be more fun to see him in montreal (do they need a striker?) rather than norway somewhere

The only strikers Montreal have are Brian Ching (not going to happen) and Justin Braun. That is probably the position where they have the least depth. According to Ives, he would be their top choice.

FOUR former Zips in Montreal would be awesome!

One of the overseas clubs interested in reeling in Darren Mattocks is Norwegian club Viking FK

Here is the Norwegian article, but I translated it below.

Two US players currently play in the Norwegian league and possibly could be called in for the U-23 Olympic squad are Mikkel Diskerud and Joshua Gatt.

Viking Yachts Big Talent

With 36 goals in 43 matches called Darren Mattocks as a major talent in the United States. Now try the Viking to snatch the quick tip.

- Mattocks is the top scorer in university football. He has extreme speed, explains Viking's coach Aage Hareide.

Darren Mattocks played for the University of Akron in Ohio made the last two years. 21-year-old, originally from Jamaica, contributed greatly to the team won the series this season. Mattocks contributed with 18 goals.

See video of Mattocks

.

Viking had such good references and tips on the player that sent Gary Goodchild to the United States. He saw Mattocks play more games and followed the attacker in training throughout the week.

Mattocks have recently spoken to local newspapers in Ohio that he dreams of a career in Europe. After the Aftenbladet know, jobs Viking now have a transition for jamaicaneren.

- The reports are good. He has technique and is a classic goalscorer. He has x-factor, says Hareide.

- Will he be a gain for the Viking?

- He is the chart among the top five players in the United States. This means that one of the largest MLS clubs are likely to catch him up. We have very good references on him from people I trust. Moreover, it is so we have to work. We need to have players with quality, while being hungry and go up and up, responds Hareide.

Viking is also in dialogue with Henry Anieres, the Estonian U-national team player who was on trial for a couple weeks ago. After the Aftenbladet know, is not Hareide stranger to sign both Anieres and Mattocks. As Mattocks belongs to a school, he will hardly make the big inroads in the Vikings budget.
