Z.I.P.
Strange that I am the first to convey this news. Was told by my coaching friend across the pond that former Wigan Latics LB David Mayer is now the former Akron Zip LB David Mayer. David asked for and received his walking papers from the program, and I believe has written on his Facebook page that he expects to be enrolled at another school next month. That's quick! Couldn't locate his Facebook, or I'd link it here..

RootforRoo44
His recent facebook statuses seem to indicate that he will be back in January at UA. That's what he's been telling his friends. I'll confirm what's going on...

yazan07
Update: Ok I was just on twitter and saw this from Mayer: "Had a good weekend, an easy decision to make!" Well to me that was curious so I went on a twitter creep-venture to see what was up. I went back a little bit and saw that he retweeted something from Dominic Bonilla: "Excited to see David Mayer come all the way down from Akron to see me in a few days" So I thought "where is 'all the way down?' Bonilla is one of our guys, or did he transfer too?" So I had to go to his twitter and check it out. I saw that he retweeted this: "A big #NinerNation welcome to @DominicBonilla !Very excited to see what you can bring to the team.Keep working hard and push your teammates" So Bonilla is at Charlotte. Very ironic with them being the team to knock us out of the tournament. Well then I go back a few more tweets and see "Another from Akron will be joining me in Charlotte @DJM_8 love you guy." So looks like we lost Dominic Bonilla (probably not a big loss) and David Mayer (a little more disappointed about this one) both to Charlotte. Looks like $10 to TheTank. What are everyone's thoughts about this?
fknbuflobo
Bonilla is unlikely much of a loss. Mayer is a bit more substantial, but still a sustainable loss. I wonder who the Zips will acquire via same process.

GLOID
I had a feeling David Mayer was moving, but to Charlotte surprises me. Lot of tansfers last year as well as this year. Makes me question what types of relationships are developing and or undeveloping, for lack of a better term, between our players and our head coach. Have heard negative things in the past, and it seems to continue this year.

If you're not starting at the college level, your goals of developing and moving onto the next level are pretty much non existent. A player probably feels they lost the coach's confidence or don't fit into the system of the club. Which very well might be the case. In soccer, the movement of players to other clubs probably happens more than any other sport especially in lower leagues across the world and Europe. You'll see many times, players who are in the reserves and can't crack the big clubs eighteen. Will be loaned out to a smaller club for 6-12 months to receive playing time. Playing time is such an important part of the game. Just as the the headline says....January Transfer Window is Open.

And who has Arsene Wenger signed for his back line? Oh, sorry, wrong thread.
fknbuflobo
Arsene Wenger has signed nada! At this point, young Zarek Valentin would be a welcome addition.
