ZachTheZip
Coach Bowden will be at two basketball games next week, after the press conference. He will be at the WBB game on Wednesday at 7:00 vs Robert Morris, and at the MBB game on Thursday against VCU. My guess is that at the WBB game he will be more accessible to your average fan because you won't have the huge crowds, while on Thursday you will see a "big announcement" kind of thing before the game or at half time. ZachTheZip
I really am baffled by our policy of waiting until the buzz has completely die before making official announcements. But anyway, the introductory press conference is today at 5:00PM, followed by an in-person intro at the WBB game. I am interested to see how the introductions go at both the WBB game and the MBB game, and how they differ with the size of the crowd. Zips Win!
Screw that! We should get to see him at the press conference. Typical UA, the press conference is closed to the 17 real fans that we have. I'm sure the ass kisses on all the committees will be in attendance. Ridiculous reaction to something that has little importance. They have two fan days and you have a problem with not being at the press conference where you couldn't do anything but sit there and look dumb. Some people on Zipsnation feel like they should have been sitting on the freaking search committee, so of course they feel entitled to be at the press conference. Honestly I don't see how an internet poster is considered a member of the press? and really how many press conferences are open to fans? ZachTheZip
A lot of problems to be solved, but winning cures most of those things. We're going to win at Akron, we're going to compete for a MAC Championship at Akron, and we're going to bring the Wagon Wheel back to Akron. ZachTheZip
“Do we want to go all-out and try to win instantly? Or do we want to build a foundation? I think the answer is somewhere in between. This first year, if we’re late, I would think this year would be a year that would have to happen. I don’t think you can build your program on junior colleges. This first year, we don’t want to sign 25 anybodies, just to sign. If there’s a need immediately, we can go to junior college and do that.” I like this. There's no reason you can't try to win a few while also putting things in place for the future. Too many coaches fall into either the "win immediately at all costs" or "building is more important than ever winning a game" categories. Dave in Green
“I’ve talked to a lot of coaches, but we haven’t hired anyone yet. I’m an offensive coach, and we will run the offense that I run. I won’t change it because of the personnel here. Too many coaches try to change things and they find out they don’t know the adjustments. It’s an up-tempo, fast-paced. We’re not going to be in huddle. We’re going to move fast. We’re going to chuck the ball down the field and go. Hold onto your hats.” I LOVE this! An exciting, fast-moving offense.

ZachTheZip
I'm getting ready to head down to the JAR to see how he does with the "regular" Zips fans. I hope we get a decent (for winter break, anyway) student turnout tonight and that tomorrow is a sellout.
bandzip
“It’s been since I was in my 20s that I’ve thought as a job as a means to get a job. I see this as a last stop. Our president painted an exciting picture as the role that athletics plays at this university. I don’t have any exit strategy.” Interesting...
