g-mann17 Posted December 22, 2011 Report Posted December 22, 2011 I know he will never see this, or probably won't. But thank you Coach Bowden for two things. 1. For pushing to get your way to our school. It shows you have a belief that something can be done here. So many of us were on the brink of being hopeless, of giving up. You wanting to be here, seeking out the administration and pushing to get here is a bright light, a great moment for us when everything was darkness and awful football moments. 2. Also, thank you for that hope. Thank you for giving a group of fans, if even for a minute, a moment of unity, confidence, pride and hope for the future of our football program. Quote

GP1 Posted December 22, 2011 Report Posted December 22, 2011 Among many other reasons, thanks for giving me a reason to take my Akron Zips sweatshirt off the shelf. I'll be wearing it around Charlotte tonight. Go Zips!! Quote
Buckzip Posted December 22, 2011 Report Posted December 22, 2011 I will say this when others have said bad things about Akron. There is a true college football insider that is connected with Ohio and national college football that has stated that Akron is the best job in the MAC and 2nd best in Ohio with the facilites and potential to challenge anyone. He has stated that many college football people agree with this too. I won't say who said this because I will be attacked for where it came from, but this guy knows his stuff and admittedly hates Akron because of the way Akron treated JD. He thinks TW is a bad person. But he has stated Akron is a sleeping giant in football. Quote
ZipRoo Posted December 22, 2011 Report Posted December 22, 2011 How did we "treat JD?" Wasn't he pretty much another hack head-coach-wannabe who got lucky, backing into the playoffs with a 6-6 record and Owens' players, and winning a game only on a miracle catch by Hixon that was the biggest defensive blunder imaginable? What, were we supposed to "reward" ol' JD for leading the Zips to the brink of mediocrity, and then saying "jump!" ? I agree on your other points, though. Quote

The "JD" he talks about might be Jim Dennison. Quote

Akron tried to snake their way out of paying JD when he left even though they fired him. There are some behind the scenes stuff that made TW look like more of an ass than most of us already thought. Think about the way Reno was treated here also. Quote
