akronzips71
*The 2-3 defense really hurt us. We only won by 30 points. *Zeke was matched up against a 7 footer, and he easily won the contest. He had an excellent night all around. His NBA stock just went up. He can play with the big boys. *We made some mistakes, but this was one of our cleanest games this year. Not many fouls, pretty good transition play. We got a little cold on 3 point attempts, but got it back at the end. *The new kid Luke looks like the energizer bunny. He really scoots around the court, and in his first two minutes of Div 1 play he didn't make any obvious mistakes. He might actually get some minutes at some time in the future. *When we put in our benchwarmers at the end, the point spread actually went up! *We really need to hit free throws. Zeke has learned to make free throws, what is the other guys excuse? *Lets keep in mind, we just blew out a Div 1 team, which is actually leading the West (not saying much). *We need BU to lose a game someplace so when we beat them at home we have the tie breaker. *The Can't game is going to be huge. They looked good tonight, and will be very tough at their place.
tpsjugglerdude
A few key stats. Akron out rebounded EMU 41-25 including 17-9 in offensive boards. We only committed 11 fouls the entire game. When was the last time that happened? Attendance was great at 4,234 for playing a very bad D1 team. Blue & Gold
Attendance was great at 4,234 for playing a very bad D1 team. Great job! KD mentioned the large, enthusiastic crowd during his postgame interview.
bUAkronG
Great job! KD mentioned the large, enthusiastic crowd during his postgame interview. Probably the best crowd I've seen in 6 years for a non-marquee matchup. People are finally comin out to support this team. Is it March yet? Hard to believe this team is this good and still has an entire month to tune our skills. I am excited to see how the remainder of the season plays out. burrdie
Good Morning, Well I was a few points off I said we would win by 20 but 30 will work. The first half of the game was probably the best I have seen since the ND game in Chicago. They did everything right. As for the free throws, I have a thought. I think they were so pumped they could not settle down at the free throw line. Of course this has to change. Second half when they were NOT so pumped free throws were good. However I did see some back talking to KD a few times from a few players this needs to stop. WE are a team, always remember this. It is no indivdual effect it is TEAM effort. Congratuations on a game well done. Take this improvment and move on and on. You can do it!Probably the best crowd I've seen in 6 years for a non-marquee matchup. Counting "team" rebounds, the Zips outrebounded EMU 46-29, including 20-12 in offensive boards. I haven't gone back over every game box score, but I believe that 20 offensive rebounds is by far the Zips' best effort this season. As a side note, Tree has now moved up to #2 in the country in offensive rebounding percentage. There's now only one college player in the country who snags a higher percentage of his team's missed shots when he's on the floor than Tree. Dave in Green
Offensive rebounding percentage is based on the percentage of missed shots by his own team that a player rebounds while in the game. For example, if Tree plays 15 minutes, and if during that 15 minutes of play when he's on the floor the Zips miss 10 field goal attempts and Tree rebounds 2, he would have an offensive rebounding percentage for that game of 20% (2 rebounds out of 10 opportunities).
