akronzips71
@akronzips71 and @Quickzips, I get where you're both coming from, and I don't think you're too far apart. I think what's happening here is that we're in the unexpected position of having a 3-game lead for the MAC regular season championship with 3 games to go, we're not used to being here and we're all a little disoriented. I think we just need to get used to the fact that it's all good right now, and all hold hands and sing and dance. Sooner or later something will go wrong, and then we can all go after each other. I think he may be talking about this: The ONLY way to go into the tourney is with the NIT in our pocket. But he misreads it. The "tourney" refers to the MAC tourney, and the "ONLY WAY" refers to I WANT TO GO IN AS #1 WITH THE NIT BID IN HAND. He seems to be reading it as meaning that is the only way we get into the NCAA. That is not what I said.
Quickzips
I'm out of this one. No point in continuing to try to have a rational debate in this one.
RowdyZip
It's nice to be away for a day and find a 2 page thread of uselessness. Love you guys. Go Zips! Win em ALL!
UAZip0510
In 1986, we cut down the nets when we clinched the OVC title. We then cut them down again the next weekend when we won the tournament. Cutting down nets is good. Anyone who thinks that we would not take advantage of an opportunity to celebrate our first conference title in 26 years in front of our home fans (if it happens next Wednesday) is crazy. I guess I'm crazy then. Winning the regular season title is a wonderful accomplishment, but it's not the major prize. Can anyone name the last 5 MAC regular season champions without Google? Save the net cutting for Cleveland.

A MAC Championship, our first conference title in 26 years, is going to ignite a post-game celebration if it happens on Wednesday night, whether you like it or not, and whether or not you think it's important. If you were here in 1986 like me, you'd realize that it's a big deal. We did it then, and we'll do it again. It's a lot of fun. Enjoy it !! Big Zip
What will the attendance be like Wednesday with our fickle fans? After a complete collapse like last night I won't be surprised to see another 3k game.
yazan07
OK so I know that this being a discussion topic was implying that us losing the Ohio game may have led to a more rewarding feeling when we won at home. Then that didn't happen. Alright well I don't know what it would have felt like to clinch at home, but I can tell you one thing: being at the MAC center to rub it in all the Can't fans' faces felt so good. Especially after this recent spell we've had. Felt incredible to be there and to win at their place.
