A trip to the sweet 64 in basketball or a Motor City Bowl berth football. Personally I'm a bigger football fan than basketball always have been and I'd be much more pumped about a Motor City Bowl berth. As all of us do year in an year out we defend to people why we root for the Zips it woudl be equally sweet -- I've made all my friends who tell me I'm crazy for rooting for Akron promise they'd go with me if the Zips get there. It'd be the best tailgate party! With this being Charlie's last year and JD's first I know its an uphill battle that is going to be tough, but I'm hoping they can get it done.

On a side note heard two things about JD this week -- heard he told some alumni he really wished he'd had the opportunity to coach Bobby Henry and he wished he had eight of them on the team. Also, heard the boys still on the team mentioned to Bobby how lucky he is to not have to go through the grueling conditioning JD is putting them through. Something tells me Bobby would have loved it. Who's the next guy without the real size to play Div. 1, but a heart as big as Texas that makes a difference? I would have loved to see Bobby get a shot as a kick return ala Dino Hall from years gone back with the Browns.

This is a tough one......If the birth to the 64 meant one and done, I'll take the motor city bowl in a heart beat. But if DAmbrot and the boys can make it into the second round or farther, I'll take the birth into the 64. I'm sitting here wondering which one would do more to promote the University Nationwide.? My guess is the NCAA tournament would.... if you get past the first round. The whole country watches that tournament. As for the motor city bowl, only MAC and die hard college football fans watch it.

No question for me .. I'm from the side of the fence that thinks of UA as a hoops school. Sweet 16 is what I want. I say that because I think we'll soon come to expect the sweet 64.

I also second JP's comment that a run in hoops would provide more pub than would football.

Well, it's a nice question, I have to admit. And I'll give credit to JP: how far can you go? But that begs the question: Which is more difficult? Akron has never come close to making it to a D1-A bowl game, and even the Motor City Bowl would be probably the biggest accomplishment in school history (any sport). BUT a basketball trip to the Sweet 16 would be bigger. Then again, some of you can remember the trip to the Tacoma Dome that the soccer team made in 85, losing to Duke in the final. Now that I think about it -- I'd take another trip to the futbal final over all -- because this time, we're takin' it ALL!

p.s.: The team is going back to Puget Sound in September. Hope to see someone else from this list there.

Hmmm....a trip to the Motor City Bowl would mean we won the MAC Championship game...to me, that combo would beat the hell out of an NCAA hoops appearance.

Final 32...I still take the MCB.

Sweet 16..."Pigskin? What Pigskin?...IT'S ZIPS TIME, BAY-BEEE! THAT ROMEO TRAVIS IS A HIGH-RISER...A PTP'er!!!!!!"
