K92
My brother-in-law, uncle & I were talking about Tress being the cover story of the latest issue of Akron magazine while we were manning the grills. Response at the Keener compound was positive. What say you? (Those I was taking to were pro-OSU, need pro-UA perspective)
Dave in Green
Everything in that article fits with my understanding of UA's reasoning for wanting Tressel and Tressel's reasons for coming to UA, which I picked up from various good sources. So the article doesn't in any way change my opinion of the situation, which I've stated in previous Tressel threads. On balance, it's going to be a longterm win-win for both UA and Tressel. skip-zip
I can't find comfort with the idea of being so strongly associated with someone who is so publicly and nationally the newest "face" of cheating in college athletics. Maybe I would have felt differently if this had happened a year or two from now, when some of the public scrutiny and mockery would tend to have time to fade. Maybe someday we'll see some benefits, but the story about the Stow appearance wasn't too encouraging. A young lady talked about how happy she was to meet him, since she was going to OSWho this year. Sadly, even though he's on our payroll, I would probably bet that if a typical 17 year old OSWho Honk would have an opportunity to talk to him, I think that would naturally still influence their decision to want to go to OSWho much more than going to Akron. ZachTheZip
Tressel's transgressions have been all but forgotten to most people, thanks to all that stuff at Penn State. The OSU scandal seems like a lifetime ago, and like it wasn't really that big of a deal.

K92
Hopefully you will not invite them to a Lot 9 tailgate this season. No HONKS allowed. I already told them they might be able to get a pic with Tress if they come along.

Now I won't have to go to the store for something to kill the roaches in my kitchen. I'll just toss that cover in there!
