K92 Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 I wish I could see this. They are gushing about the defense on the radio broadcast. Quote
RootforRoo44 Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 Cody Grice All MAC? It's only one game, but Grice, Caponi, and Presley look very impressive. Quote
UAZips Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 This is a lot of fun to watch. On a side note, I think we look MUCH better with gold pants on the road. Quote
RootforRoo44 Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 Our receivers are TERRIBLE at getting in correct position. Quote
MDZip Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 This has to be overruled - that's a TD! Quote
akzipper Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 regardless of the ruling on the field, that was a great catch!! Quote

PB1719 Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 I hope some recruits are listening/ watching. Quote
akzipper Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 Leading at the half is important, but letting them score again will end our momentum. Our defense needed to make a stop. Quote

On the other hand, we were staring at a possible blow-out loss very early on. We get the ball to start the half. That series will likely be key. Quote
ctmjbowes@sbcglobal.net Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 To be up 20-14 at the half against any FBS team is a great thing for the Zips. That was actually fun to watch. I cannot remember the last Zips football half that I actually enjoyed. It's certainly something to build on. Quote

That series will likely be key. But imagine leading 20-7 starting the 3rd quarter with the ball and all of the momentum? Now we only have a 6pt lead and FIU has all the momentum. Their defense will really be stepping up. Quote

Now we only have a 6pt lead and FIU has all the momentum. Their defense will really be stepping up. I'm not really concerned with them scoring at the end of the half, but rather the way they scored. A few quick passes got them down the field and in the endzone. That momentum coupled with their coach getting them focused could make things interesting. Then again, I think the halftime pep talk is vastly overrated. Never seemed to work very well for J.D. Brookhart. Quote
PB1719 Posted September 9, 2012 Report Posted September 9, 2012 I hope we win, but regardless, I see this as an indicator of things to come, I want us to get all of the kinks worked out of our new offense and defenses before conference play. I feel that we are definitely headed in the right direction. Quote

It's the 2nd college game ever for a lot of these players. We're going to have to swallow some bad wth the good with this team, especially early on. Sure it was an opportunity lost and it may end up costing them the game in the end. But are you seriously whining about a 20-14 lead in a game in which you go in as a 23 1/2 point underdog????? Quote

And it's tough to not see the Zips blowing this game. As a side note Jason Taylor is in attendance. Quote
PB1719 Posted September 9, 2012 Report Posted September 9, 2012 Could we not be in the bottom 10 after this week? Quote
akronzips71 Posted September 9, 2012 Report Posted September 9, 2012 Could we not be in the bottom 10 after this week? I am thrilled to have 20 points on the board when the other team does not have 56. Quote

As a side note Jason Taylor is in attendance. Good to hear JT is there. There's no doubt that a "winning football team" doesn't let that score happen like that at the end of the half. Let's hope our Zips are learning to become that kind of team, a team that smells blood and goes for the jugular when it matters. Quote
