TXZipFan
Hixon just ran a 4.38 three times at Akrons Pro-Day... WOW. The scouts are all talking to Brookhart as we speak.
msopher
That's how fast I run from the couch to the fridge. In all seriousness, that is a great time and it probably upped his stock.
TXZipFan
Didn't know John Cooper (Bad Coach, Good Judge of talent) is now a scout for the Bengals. Heard he was very impressed with Hixon and pulled him aside after the workout. Side Note: Charlie Frye came in to throw with the recievers today as well. Dale Carnegie
At best, he's a 5th round pick. We all know he's NFL material.
Dr Z
That's GREAT. I'm happy for Hixon, he seems like a nice guy.The more guys the Zips can put in the NFL, the better it is for our recruiting.
Valpo Zip
Wow ! that's awesome... This really helps Demonik's case and show how wrong are the organizers of the NFL combine by not inviting him !I hope the browns would pick him some where the second day ! MRasor0200
Hixon will be drafted. How can a receiver with his 2005 stats, his speed and his size not get drafted. As soon as I get a chance, I'll give him a call and see if he expected to run a 4.38. Wow. liljc
I am not well informed about the kind of times that these guys run. Where does 4.38 put Hixon? What is considered a vey good time for a wr. or db? Obviously 4.38 is great , but how many guys will ran that at the combine? I would just like to have something to compare it to. TXZipFan
Here's the results from the combine...WR times: http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/features/...sitions/wr.htmlSaftey times: http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/features/...ositions/s.htmlAfter looking at the numbers Hixon is "by the numbers" at the top of the pack at either position. With his versatility I can't believe he isn't getting more looks. Hopefully this combine will change that.
liljc
Hixon's time is in the top three or four in both postions. Nice links, Tx. Thanks.
Dr Z
From Roger Brown (PD Saturday)Former University of Akronstar receiver Domenik Hixon helped his chance of being a second-day pick in next month's NFL Draft with a solid performance during Akron's recent Pro Day session. Hixon could be attractive to NFL teams because he's a converted safety. He could serve as a No. 4 receiver for a club and double, in a pinch, as a defensive back much like New England's Troy Brown. Was real excited about his pro day.Said the Steelers were interested in him becuase of his special teams ability.Steelers were looking for Randel El replacement. He has a private workout for Carolina and another team that I can't remember right now. liljc
Yea, I was afraid Pittsburgh might give Hixon a look after they lost Randel El. I'll wish him well anywhere he plays, but God do I freaking HATE Pittsburgh.
