  1. I watched the Hixon highlights and all I can say is WOW.
  2. If the Zips lose to Temple, that will make it 3 years in a row that JD goes 3-5 in the MAC. This was one of the weaskest years we've ever seen for the MAC East. He deserves to be on the hot seat for these results.
  3. Who gives a crap about Youngstown? Last time I checked, that city's demographics were awful. One of the worst cities to live in. Ask most people in Northeast Ohio about what they know of YSU, and they'll tell you it's a 2year tech school like Stark State. Get out of here with your YSU crap.
  4. The Big East has been good to USF and Cinci
  5. USF has over 50,000 enrolled students. They should be that good.
  6. The game is on ONN for those that live in Ohio but don't get WUAB.
  7. We all know SGM found this while he was shopping for OSU gear.
  8. Akron Canton NewsThanks to DVR, I never miss the best news in Northeast Ohio. You can also get it on On Demand.
  9. "Bottom line: WEWS made a business decision. The Buckeyes pull a significant ratings number in Northeast Ohio. It's big-boy football. While the MAC, UA and Can't State have plenty of fans in the area, the likelihood they ever will reach OSU's level for ratings is slim."I appreciate the time he took to address this issue, but his last comment does not represent the Beacon Journal very well. Big-Boy football?? Both of these schools are D1-A. In fact, if Akron ever goes undefeated, they would have a good shot at a BCS bowl like Boise State.A low likelihood they will ever reach OSU's level for ratings?? Thanks for the support. If this is how a Beacon Journal writer thinks, then this paper is not for me.The Plain Dealer's lack of Zips coverage is about the same as the Beacon Journal, but at least they have a real business section and don't have writers that refer to the Zips as "little boys".I'm making the switch and recommend others do it as well. To leave the BJ for the Plain Dealer
  10. Everything they did was very unprofessional. They did not do a good job handling the complaints, period! Zip fans need to make a loud statement here or else things like this will continue to happen in the future. It is time to make this community hear you.
  11. A true fan never bets against his own team. Those are the games you don't bet on if you really think your team is going to lose. You know why? Because when you put money on a game (without a spread), you're rooting for your pick to win so you can win money.Of course you'd put your money on OSU, they're your number one team whether you'll admit it or not. Your posts in the past are enough evidence to prove this. Sounds like one of those "wish I coulda' went to OSU but I ended up in Akron" students. If someone ever bashes OSU, even in the smack column, you'll find a certain someone crying themselves in. BOO HOO, a bunch of Akron fans hate OSU. We have very good reasons to hate OSU and all the crying in the world by you wont change it. There are Can't/Akron fans but you don't see them crying everytime someone bashes Can't State.Akron can beat OSU in football. There's no such thing as 'I Can't'I'll put my money on Akron because they're my team and I'll always be loyal to my #1 team.
  12. I highly doubt Akron will get beat up. Knowing how Trussel coaches, especially without the weapons he had last year, I don't think OSU will score more than 28.
  13. The FBI hires a lot of Accountants from what I hear, especially when it comes to detecting fraud. A criminal Justice/Accounting degree would be ideal for the FBI. Akron has one of the best accounting programs in this region.
  14. OSU wont have the explosive offense they had last yead and they've struggled to beat up MAC schools in the past. I think it will be close. Akron has a good chance.
  15. the o-line is horrible. Frye might not have many more years if he keeps taking hits like today. The Browns O-Line have a lazy mentality.
  16. I think he's upset because the ABJ is a horrible newspaper. Don't know why Rasor is mentioned. Only thing I can make out of it is that he wants Rasor to write something to address the issue with the ABJ.
  17. Akron is down by 1 at the half. Indiana 1 akron 0
  18. Horrible is the wrong word to use here. Sorry. It just seems like Akron always plays them away. Akron is a powerhouse soccer program. Teams like OSU should have to travel here if they want a shot at playing the best.
  19. OSU is horrible, this is stupid. It's like Akron playing at Ashland for a football game. We all know Akron has the best footballers in Ohio. Could someone explain why we play them away instead of at home??????? Tue, Sep 26 at Ohio State ??????????????????
  20. I rebelled against osu when I noticed osu dominateed this market. I would ratther see thm wearing akron stuff. Great win and great to see such a big turn out at johnnymalloys
  21. I'm glad that people are finally starting to revolt against liking osu. The zips have us all so excited that we get pissed off when we see that our neighbors could care less about them. Why? Because they root for OSU. To hell with them. I'm proud to be a zip.
  22. It's better than nothing, even though it's very little. We all want more Akron stuff, talking trash about this guy isn't going to make it happen. Sending emails and letters to the Beacon, now that might do something.
  23. I've never said anything about disliking the OSU fans from Columbus. My issue is with the the fans that live in this area that would rather forget about the Zips and root for the Buckeyes. Please explain to me how OSU is not Akron's competition??? Maybe they aren't directly competitors in football, but as a college in general, they are. When high school students in this area are figuring out which college is the right choice for them, Akron and OSU are big competitors. Your blind if you don't think so. When the locals can't decide if they want to watch OSU play football on TV or take a trip to the Rubber Bowl, that's competition. Akron competes with OSU in many ways. Think of it from a business standpoint. But please, go ahead and explain to me how the University of Akron and the Ohio State University aren't competitors. Because you have yet to justify your claim while I've done this over and over again. Alright bobbyaxe...1) If you want to bash OSU, go for it. But at least come up with some material that makes you look like you know football. Seriously, by calling out their fans (some of the best in college football) and calling their team garbage (c'mon now) you just look jealous, bitter, and uneducated about football. 2) Good luck with your "Forget about the Buckeyes, Go Zips" campaign. I'm sure that one will really work...3. That's too bad that that ONE kid who was NINE was bashing Akron. I must ask...are you then saying he was in the wrong for bashing another school for no apparent reason? 4) I agree with you that getting more people out to the Rubber Bowl is important and needs to be done. I agree that more local excitement needs to be built. I agree that more pride needs to be taken with the Zips. I DISAGREE that the way to do that is by bashing the Buckeyes and their fans. 5) The competition thing...I've thought long and hard about how to explain this thing to you, because you obviously don't get it. So I'll try my best with another analogy. It's a bit out there, but here goes...Grady Sizemore and I go to a bar to pick up girls. Grady of course is very successful and is the most attractive guy in the bar. He also has the most resources for bringing girls in. Not every girl will want him over anyone else, but pretty much most of them will. I'm a pretty attractive guy who is just starting to have some real nice success. I don't have the resources that Grady does, but I do have some. Technically, because we are both trying to pick up girls, we are in competition. Realistically, any girl that Sizemore and I both want, he is going to get. Sure, there might be one who doesn't like Grady and goes with me, but pretty much - what Grady wants, Grady gets. So what can I do in this competition when talking to the girls?Focus on ME and the things I bring to the table. Focus on the success I've had and the success I'm headed towards. And what am I not going to do? Talk about him! The girls know what he has to offer. I'm not going to be able change that he's a rich, successful guy. So instead of badmouthing him to the girls and looking like a jealous wannabe, I'm not even going to bring him up. If someone asks, I'll say, "Oh yeah, him? Good guy...but let me tell you about me." Maybe the analogy is a bit out there, but if you really take the time to think about it, I think you'll get what I'm trying to say. Your analogy doen't work because you wouldn't represent Akron in it. You don't get girls. You'd have to compare Grady with another baseball player for it to make just even a little since. Dumb analogy that wasn't well thought out.
