Wally B
NOTE: This isn't meant as a flame against OSU, rather a discussion on an emerging pattern I've noticed..... I've largely kept this to myself and away from the OSU fans in my family; but I've long speculated that OSU made a very poor choice when it selected Meyer as HC. I based this premenision on two facts. 1) More often than not top programs will take a risk with questionable players if it positions them to win a championship. See: Billups, Clarett, etc... 2) Meyer was under tremendous pressure to maintain the Florida program. As time passed his gambles started to unravel his control over his program and serious issues were beginnning to emerge before he retired due to health reasons... Putting the whole "He's ticked off every B1G coach with his recruiting style" aside for the moment how is OSU faring so far? Well.... there's this Deadspin - OSU No worries, the USFL will soon fill the void for the non-student athlete's

Besides, if you think that he is the only guy playing college football that feels this way you are dead wrong. Half of these guys think they are going to the pros so they couldn't care less about school.
GP1
I appreciate the young man's honesty. He is right on spot. Players at prominent BCS schools are there to play football. They major in majors that are a complete joke so they can meet their ncaa requirements. Major college athletics are in almost complete opposition to the mission of universities. They are about making money and expanding the "experience" (having a good time) of students. Universities are there to educate people and expand the understanding of the world we live in through science. I don't see how college athletics at the BCS level do that. With that said, screw the physics majors! Lets get some guys in here to get C's in Exercise Science and win some damn football games so Zips fans can have some fun tailgating and enjoying The Big Dialer. Have a great weekend everyone. Go Zips!

He will more than likely never see the field for the Buckeyes.

Half of these guys think they are going to the pros so they couldn't care less about school. Maybe plenty of players do think like this, but it just happened to be an OSWho player who was stupid enough to put his thoughts on a public forum. I'm not sure where you stand in terms of possibly being a Suckeyes fan, but this is the typical excuse for their fans. "Oh.......everyone else does it too". Meanwhile, a recent Columbus Dispatch (their own hometown paper) inquiry found that they have committed twice as many violations as the next closest school over the last 10 years. Zipsrifle
My experience indicates this is common at all schools. You are a pretty good player if you get a D1 scholarship out of HS. Given a young mans confidence in the future, especially when everyone tells them how great he is, it's not surprising a few kids feel this way. Buckzip
Jones was not a Meyer recruit and he is suspended because of that. The haters don't realize how many contributors have been kicked off the team already.
