liljc Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 I'd like to play Xavier, but I don't like the fact that I didn't see Cincinnati's name on there. They are not worthy of a bid to the NCAA Tourney. Quote
AkronURocks Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 That's a nice thought....but Xavier won the A-10 tourney yesterday, so they are going dancing. Maybe Cinci replaces Xavier and we head south to Bearcat country?Wouldn't that be ironic.... Quote
AntonioGates Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 That would be BS!!!!! You guys should be hosting an opening game in the NIT. We host one every year we're in it!!!! The NIT guys better let you play at home!!! Quote
Illinois ZIP Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 They already have the NIT braket before the NCAA one? Quote
liljc Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 Xavier won the A-10 tourney yesterday, so they are going dancing. Maybe Cinci replaces Xavier and we head south to Bearcat country. Oh I would love to beat Cincinnati ! Quote
Sloopy Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 The NIT Field is announced at 9 pm tonight on ESPN News. Quote
UAZipster0305 Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 Believe it or not, I agree with AntonioGates and think that we definitely deserve to host a game this year for the NIT!...seeing as we were undefeated at home this season, I like our chances in the first round if we get a home game. Quote
GoZips Posted March 12, 2006 Author Report Posted March 12, 2006 UPDATE ... I was in a hurry to get to Mass on time. I knew Xavier had an NCAA tourneyautomagic bid locked up. What I was excited about is the possibility of playing a homegame as part of the "play in" to the field of 32.The Zips actually rate a "play in" bye. But, would likely be sent to a top seed in the first round. Playing a game at home, even a "play in" game is huge. We would have an excellent chance of playing at least two post season games. This is all aboutbuilding for the future.Who we play doesn't matter. Getting games does. Quote

ScrewTheRoo Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 How they can have Miami(Oh) in and not Toledo is mind boggling to me. I thought one of the new stipulations of the NIT was that the regular season champ from a conference automatically qualifies if they don't make it into the NCAA's. That would be why you see Miami instead of Toledo. Quote

AkronURocks Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 They are taking forever to get to the bracket....probably still finalizing all the match-ups. Quote
Blue & Gold Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Akron @ Temple. Tough matchup! But I don't get this at all: the BJ says that Miami (O) gets to HOST a 1st round game against... Butler?!?! Miami gets an easier draw AND a game at home?!?! What gives?! Quote
Zipster Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Miami is now AT Butler due to their facility hosting high school playoffs. Quote
FearTheRoo Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 And hosting King James during his entire senior year doesn't count for shit?? Quote
