MDZip
Interesting map roughly allocating fan bases for mostly FBS teams across the country. Not surprisingly, MAC teams get little more then a blip in most places. It's from last year and could use some adjustments but I thought it was kind of cool. skip-zip
It is interesting, but it provides some very inaccurate boundaries. First of all, I notice that they somehow indicate that Michigan controls East Michigan, and Michigan State controls Western Michigan. They possibly need a little geography lesson to understand that both schools are in EASTERN Michigan, and are only about an hour apart. And they also split the Upper Peninsula of Michigan as if the eastern and western parts of that area have a distinct split between Michigan and Michigan State? Very Odd. I also know for a fact that a lot of the northwest corner of Ohio consists of split loyalty with Michigan.
Aidan
And I would add the boundary for ND is the most inaccurate of all. To say the Irish fan base is confined to the top third of Indiana is pretty unrealistic. The interlocking ND logo should probably be in every state. Zipmeister
I'm most concerned that Alaska is missing completely. Did them damn Canadians make off with our biggest state?
Bubba4three
Another issue with Michigan.. This map suggests EMU has fans. Completely unrealistic.

And how about UCLA and USC occupying different parts of Southern California? It is an interesting graph. It's just not accurate, and is probably impossible to make it accurate based on the close geographic locations of so many major schools. I do always find it interesting that many people see that Cincinnati is carving out a good portion of SW Ohio. When we played there last year, it was a real eye-opening experience. Everything from their BUCkeye State shirts that mock OSWho, to the bold ads from their local radio station. Those folks couldn't care less about OSWho. I only wish we could build that kind of pride, and carve out our own significant section of Ohio.

I have to agree there are problems with the ND boundary. The map indicates all of SD is NDSU territory. Many in SD would rather slash their wrists than be pro anything ND. Aidan
I only wish we could build that kind of pride, and carve out our own significant section of Ohio. That is a terrific point. And who knew Nevada-Reno had a bigger fan base than Nebraska!
zipsfan33
Where did this come from? Seems like someone (a teen maybe??) was bored one day and threw this together. I don't put a lot of faith into this map.
