johnnyzip84
Stewart Mandel story on CNNSI This is a a pretty big deal for the MAC. Honestly, I'm pleasantly surprised that, at least theoretically, a MAC team can make it to one of these games in the future.
ZachTheZip
This makes it official that there is absolutely no reason to move to the Big East now. That conference is on a major downward trajectory.
Wally B
Wow is right! This essentially turns the BE into a mid-major. One has to wonder what Boisie State and others are thinking now. For awhile there, the MWest was looking like a great conference. On the other hand, this formula also puts ND and BYU in a hard spot. As the Irish are already finding out this year, without a conference championship game, your team is automatically shorted a crucial game at the end of the year. Will a one loss team from the SEC or PAC/Big 12 make it in over the Irish. The magic 8ball says - It is very likely .

Edit: looking at the article again, it says that Notre Dame as a shared deal with the SEC/Big 10 opposite of the ACC champion in the Orange Bowl (pretty sure ND can even represent the ACC). So they are set up pretty nice, as expected.
akzipper
Honestly it would be better if the MAC couldn't get into these games. I don't want to have to worry about Ohio or Can't making a run in the future. Obviously we will never be up there, so it's irrelevant to the Zips. Last time I checked you have to at least win against an FBS opponent to make it to a championship game.
