It was a hard-fought game, and I think he was more upset with the fact that Portland managed to steal 3 points at the end than he was at Porter specifically. They're both, shall we say, strong advocates of their own cause, and the fact that CP constantly acted as if his team was being victimized by officiating probably understandably grated Bruce a little bit

Bruce has kinda made no bones admitting he isn't CP's biggest fan, though

Mark this match (7/13/2013) as the beginning of a very contentious rivalry. Love it!

I will be watching the replay on Time Warner Cable SportsNet, the galaxy's network tonight (was at BB summer league game on Saturday nite). All I can say is, it sure is time the galaxy got a rival. Zemansky should relish what it means to have them as a rival, after his years with Chivas.

Visualize those fifteen minutes in the Timbers locker room between Full Time and the press conference. You can bet it was not pretty.

Were he still Zips HC, I can only imagine how Porter's “winning mentality" would have looked after that underachieving (exhibition) showing at SLU.

I really miss that S.O.B.!

Porter's boys clinched a playoff spot today, first time Timbers have done so in MLS. They're also in second place for the supporters shield right now. If they win/tie next week (Chivas away) and Sporting KC ties/loses (Philadelphia away) then Timbers will win the shield, I think. Beating Chivas is definitely doable, but they'll need a little help from the Union. Would be an incredible story for Porter and his revamped Timbers side.

Edit: nvm, just realized NY hasn't played this week and they currently sit just one point behind Portland. Still possible though

You have to read this article Ives Galarcep wrote about Caleb Porter. An in-depth look into the life of Porter http://www.nbcsports.com/soccer/mls/caleb-porter-destroyer

Thanks Yaz. I learned how CP got his desire for new challenges after hearing his mom Mindy tell about taking over as principal of a Navajo middle school in Sanders, Arizona. I don't think there's a ceiling on Caleb's career. He'll succeed at whatever he wants to. Go Timbers!

It is no secret that CP wants to take over for Jurgen Klinnsman when the time comes.

How awesome would that be for us Akron fans who really watched him take off? I would love to say I was there watching the future national team coach when he was just getting his start.

What a night for Portland soccer last night as Caleb's Timbers made it to the MLS Conference Finals with the 5-3 cumulative victory over the Sounders downtown at Jeldwen Field on NBC, while the Portland Pilots women defeated Santa Clara uptown at Merlo Field to win the WCC (co-champs) on ESPNU. Wish I were back in PDX!

Ummmm...score two goals? :P I believe that we shall win.

But Real Salt Lake are better.

They hold the ball, defend, and attack better.

I will clearly root for Timbers, but I dunno.
