Captain Kangaroo
I was shocked to read that Betancourt's turnover rate was near 50%?!!? Reading through the definition of that it means essentially what you would think. The % of turnovers expected on 100 plays. Yikes. I'm sure that is skewed by early season showings and Betancourt was better against Can't. We need that down dramatically in the coming days though. No wasted possessions. Personally - I would discount what occurred earlier in the season, and focus on his performance vs. K.e.n.t. Not because it makes his numbers better, but because that was a true test of his performance in a big game, as a starter in front of a sell-out crowd. I thought he played better than expected, and with a week of running the offense in practice under his belt, I'd expect as good, or better this Friday. The cramping is a concern. Hopefully he paces himself... he was so used to going balls-out for 5 minutes he didn't consider it was impossible to keep up the pace for 20 or 25. I would look for KD to spell him more regularly this week. Have Avsec keep an eye on CB's fluid intake too. From last night's coach's show, he seems like he'd be happy to do it. Not related to CB - I hope Tree can get a breather or two Friday night. I never saw a Zips player work so hard, and be so spent after a game than Tree was last Friday. Winning this Friday is obviously most important, but Tree needs to be as rested as possible for Saturday night. I still want to see Reggie at the point. Melo seems not ready to play more than 10-15 minutes. And assuming we win Friday, he will be toast for Saturday. Maybe we can find him some Twinkies and get his blood sugar up? Seriously, the bigger problem with Melo is his lack of scoring. AA gave us a three point threat, as well as 10 PPG. If we had his 10 pts against Can't, we win the game. It comes down to that. We have to find those points and assists someplace, I don't think Melo is good for it right now. skip-zip
Finished 17th in the collegeinsider.com poll This is an obvious reflection of how we looked on the national stage against VCU, because we would beat a good number of those teams that are ahead of us.
